i've been getting such advice a lot too, mrs bee!
but we're only having about 40 guests in a small restaurant, so we're definitely intending to enjoy the delicious french food
Yes I ate! I ate breakfast that morning with my cup of tea, my doc made sure I had a small lunch, my husband and I had some hors d'ouevers and champagne right after the ceremony, and we made sure we took the time to sit down for 15 minutes to eat during the reception.
Wow -- I guess I was a little piggy too!
Pengy: LMAO!!!
I gobbled down that dinner, even though people kept interrupting it. Shoot, I couldn't stomach eating a single thing that entire day, so when dinner was placed in front of me it didn't stand a chance! It was the cake I never got to eat, except for the one bite when we cut it. They made us a little plate with 4 different slices (1 of each layer) and when I FINALLY got back to my seat to eat it, the plate had been stolen! I found out later on it was my cousin, which was fine by me because he's been in and out of the hospital and I was just happy to have him there that day...poor guy practically had to bride his doctor to get released for a few hours, then he had to be back by midnight like Cinderellla.
I had half a bagel for breakfast, tried 4 of the hors d'oeuvres, and had 2 bites of cake. And all I drank the entire day was one glass of water, and then some champagne later at our after-party.
Frankly, I felt FINE and do not regret barely eating at all -- I wish I could have tasted more, but I never felt lightheaded/sick/hungry. And not drinking anything was fantastic because I never once had to pee during the 13 hours I was in my dress!
I can't imagine not eating on the day of my wedding (I love food and have never turned down a chance to eat) But just in case I some how miss out on dinner I have asked our caterer to pack up a doggy bag to take back to the hotel with us.
mimosas, bagels and water while getting ready.
maybe one or two cucumber sandwiches at the reception.
booze and 3 or 4 cupcakes. i love cake.
I ate! What kept me getting up from the table was not the need to go around to each table, but that my stomach was hurting. There was no way I was going to miss out on the crab cake though.
I ate lunch that day while we were getting ready. But at the reception, we really had no appetite! We barely touched our food, even our filet mignon. We had it packed up and sent to our room, but then didn't feel like eating it later either. Luckily we had McDs cheeseburgers as our late night snack, so we had some of those! yum!
I was offered food by the servers and even had a plated meal....but with all the excitement, I just wasn't hungry. I ended up taking 2 bites of my meal and 1 bite of my cake. Thank goodness my reception venue wrapped up some leftovers!
I am really nervous about what to eat before the ceremony. I sometimes get digestion problems or a bloaty feeling. I so don't want to feel like that in my beautiful dress.
I ate! My fabulous DOC made sure my husband and I sat down for the main course and brought us a plate of apps while taking post ceremony photos. BUT I have never in my life had my appetite dissapear the way it did the wedding weekend. I barely ate at the Rehersal dinner, not because I didn't have time, but just because I wasn't hungry. So weird. Day of I had half a bagel for breakfast and half a sandwich for lunch...
I forced myself to eat... but didnt have my dessert (which was the best part)
I rarely drank though....
I had a few bites of my sub at lunch, but ate the entire meal at dinner. It was sooo good it was hard not to eat it all!
HELL YES!!! I had declared early on that I didn't care if I had to carry around a lobster on stick, there was no way in hell I was missing out in my clambake goodness!
I had been getting that advice too, and so I made sure that I was going to eat everything that we had! And I did! I'm so glad I did too bc I would have probably passed out! However, I didn't get to eat anything from our candy or cookie/dessert buffets.
And I only got to eat two bites of the cake when we fed it to each other. Boo! Thank goodness we had a little of each layer left, so we were able to eat it the next day at our after party!
I had a bite of each course but I was too nervous and giddy to eat more than that, which is such a pity cuz everyone told me that the food was amazing!
I forced myself to have a nice breakfast with my girlfriends, although I was too nervous to really eat much but the fruit bowl and half a bagel.
And at the reception I had a small plate of food and it was SO difficult to make sure even that small plate made it into my mouth. There was just so much socializing to be had :)
Our anniversary is coming up next month (weeee) and to celebrate we are going back to the restaurant that catered the wedding and ordering up a few of the dishes :)
I had room service before my hair & makeup crew came to the hotel room. I didn't eat a lot though. During the reception we had a buffet so I stood in line and got food too :)
I didn't eat a lot though - it's hard with the dress on!! lol. I also only had a bite of my cake >"< I wish I had more cake.
I kept reminding myself - a drunk bride is not a fun bride so I didn't drink too much :P
I had one of my bridesmaids bring me coffee that morning then I had some of a breakfast burritto but after that I didn't eat until dinner and I really didn't eat that much. I don't think I had any cake except the piece we fed each other.
I took a bite here and there... I'm so sad I didnt eat more. Now I hope someone I know has their wedding at the same place so I can enjoy the food.
I ate a decent breakfast, barely ate my seaside lunch since I was nervous and had to rush to my hair and make-up appointment, didn't eat anything during cocktail hour as we were taking pictures, ate only a bite of steak and maybe one or two pieces of grilled veggies during dinner, and one bite of our cake when we cut it. Looking back, I ate wayyyyy too little, I'm surprised I didn't pass out.
I ate a decent breafast, a light lunch, and a light dinner. I didn't really feel like eating but I knew it would be better so I didn't get lightheaded or too drunk.
I ate breakfast in my hotel room (i love breakfast in bed!)
I had 1/2 turkey sandwich for lunch
Then mimosas
Right when we arrived, our DJ gave us a plate of appetizers which was a much needed snack!
Then cocktails
I ate 1/2 my dinner (although it was great, I was too excited). DH ate the other 1/2 :)
More cocktails.
1/2 piece of cake
3:00 am cheeseburger from a drive-thru (yep, i'm a classy gal) :)
Some fruit, crackers, and champagne for breakfast.
For dinner I had half a roll and two bites of salad.
The cake the Mr. and I fed each other.
Some spring rolls at midnight from a random chinese food/kareoke bar!
Haha, yep. I got a full plate at dinner - only to discover that my tight dress wouldn't allow me to eat more than a few bites! Everyone was amazed to see DH and I eating - there are a million photos of it.
...but, since we ate, we didn't get around to every table to greet our guests.
We felt really bad about that.
I think I'm with Pengy on this one. But I'm happy that I did eat because it prevented me from being cranky!
I was actually FULL after the wedding! I guess part of it was because all 200 of our guests were snarfing down their food during dinner, I was hungry, and the food was AWESOME. I wasn't nervous at all before hand, so eating some pizza was no problem:)
To avoid the time spent on greeting tables, my husband and I decided to greet our guests during cocktail hour which was nice to be a part of it and we kind of surprised everyone!
I ate my dinner plate, stole a couple of forkfulls of food from my husband's plate, and I also asked for a second piece of cake. My husband and I paid for our wedding so I was not going to let anything get in the way from me eating and drinking. I walked around with a cocktail the whole time and danced my butt off so bad that my toes were numb for three days AFTER the wedding.
:) Make sure you enjoy your day because it's only one day and it speeds by so fast!
Our wedding day was one of the rare occasions I had no appetite!
I had only 1/2 of a chinese bun for breakfast that I forced down.
And then at dinner, of the 10 course of the Chinese banquet, I had only 1 bite of fish, and then just the 2 bites of cake that was fed to me by Mr. T! Yup, and that was it!
Oh my, I hope I get to eat on my wedding day. Its a new england seafood extravangza! Would it be bad if I just hover around the boat of shrimp cocktail and the raw bar at the cocktail hour? I mean people can come to be as I slurp down oysters right?
I met our banquet captain during our tasting, and he said that his main job for the night is to make sure that we (my FI and I!) eat! Hee hee! I think a doggy bag sounds like a good idea-- I'll have to see if I can get some of our food delivered to our room for late night too!
We were looking at a first draft of a catering menu the other night. Pratically drooling and the FI looks at me and said "We're not going to get to eat any of this are we?" NOPE. ![]()
I've been to so many weddings where the bride & groom barely sat down for more than 5 minutes much less eat! That's why I'm making sure we have breakfast that morning! Delivered or the boys will have to go get them. I get extremely cranky when I'm hungry. Hehe
Having been forewarned of the "couples' famine," I made sure that we had a plate ready to eat (ours was buffet style) upon our entrance. Ordering the slideshow after the cake cutting, with entertainment from our MCs in between, allowed us to enjoy the cake too! ![]()
I don't know how y'all went through the night without any food! I know I didn't eat much leading up to the big day so I could fit into my dress!
I forced myself to have breakfast so I wouldn't faint in our super hot church, but my mom had me so stressed out for the rest of the day that I wasn't really all that hungry! I was really excited to eat too b/c everyone was saying how good everything was!
My DH and I made a point to eat at our reception. He had even joked about giving the Best Man a taser to ward off any distractions. We had a moment to ourselves after the ceremony where our caterer brought us the appetizers being served. We made a point to sit down and enjoy the meal as well because the food was so delicious. I'd say my DH ate more than I did though because I was so anxious to greet our guests.
Our caterer also packaged together two of EVERYTHING that was served so that we could have a midnight snack/dinner on another night.
I definitely ate.
Toast and fruit before the wedding.
Our servers set aside some hors d'oeuvres for me on a plate at our table because I didn't want to eat standing up (too easy to spill on the dress) but I wanted to try them.
And I ate most of my dinner. It was delicious food - the chef was amazing - I couldn't pass up that opportunity.
I only got one bite of my wedding cake though because they served it at our seats and by that time I had hit the dance floor, never to sit down at my seat again. Good thing we get an anniversary cake from our bakery on our one-year anniversary because I heard it was delicious.
Also, most planners if they're any good, will make sure the bride and goom eat at least something during the day. But if you have a nervous stomach, you shouldn't feel pressured to eat much.

Everyone always tells you to make sure that you eat on your wedding day, but I was so busy going around tables to greet guests, I didn't have a bite of our delicious dinner! I think the only thing I ate all night was cake and alcohol.
Did you get to eat at your wedding reception?
