No, he didn’t even get me a hint… just POP! and there it was.

We had discussed our future previously to that, but it was still out of the blue.

I gave him MY timeline in December.  LOL, he’s a man, he was going to wait indefinitely.  There’s always something else to spend money on, always a job promotion he’s waiting for.  Told him I want to be engaged by June.  The ring is in the works.  He just needed a push.

@Ninteenthchance:  Yes it is, in fact, he doesn’t know that I know the ring is already being designed, I found out by accident.  I definitely want it to be a surprise since I know how hard it must be for him to keep it secret (he is not so good at secrets).  He keeps trying to bring up subtly what would be good to engrave on it… very cute.

But I have no idea when the proposal is coming, somewhere between probably 2 weeks from now & June.

@Ninteenthchance:  I got “five to seven years”.  There were spreadsheets involved.  Took about 3 after he said that, 6 all together!

Absolutely, we decided together that we were ready to get engaged, and the exact day it was going to happen on. We are in an equal partnership and make all important decisions together. We proposed to each other this past christmas day 🙂 But the WAY we each did it was a surprise!

We agreed on a timeline after being together for only 3 months, were really close friends before that. We both agreed engagement after college and wedding after I finish my masters. We picked the ring together, he set the budget, I picked what I liked. He did get to surprise me as he waited to get the ring and never once hinted at the proposal, just that it would be coming that year. He was too nervous to just surprise me with a ring.

I got impatient one day and asked him when he thought we’d be engaged, since I feel like I’m just waiting on him to be ready. “The next few months?  When? By the end of the year?” and he said he should hope it would by then, in the tone of stop being ridiculous, of course it will be by the end of the year. I just finished a hellish course in school and got my first job after a career change, so he has a point. He wants things to be a little more stable and settled, but there’s no definite time when that will be. I told him in the past that I really think he should not try to get me a ring without me looking at it because I have my own unique sense of style (ok, I’m very picky) and don’t usually like clothing or jewelry that people get me. he told me to stop trying to plan our engagement. That was the last word I said about that.

@Ninteenthchance:  I will definitely share with everyone 🙂

@emelee:  I wouldn’t be able to handle that.  It’s been 3.5 years and I feel like we are the last to get engaged…

@FisherQueen:  I definitely think you should be in on picking out the ring.  I’m very detail oriented so I wanted something very specific.  SO said he would have picked out something completely different if we hadn’t done some shopping together.

yes 🙂 we want to get married next spring and want at least a year to plan, so it should be coming VERY SOON (we decided that 2-3 months ago, pretty sure he’s been working on getting the ring!) :-)!!!!

@Ninteenthchance:  That’s what I figured. I also think its a sore spot because he bought me some jewlery that I dont wear because it’s not my style and I’m not that much of a jewelry person.
