Did you get an actual piece of your wedding cake?

I gobbled down on a large piece of my wedding cake at the wedding, and I have zero regrets.  It was a chocolate cake with a cannoli filling, and it was delicious!  My mom made sure they saved the top so it could be frozen.  Although honestly, I think eating year-old freezer-burnt cake doesn’t sound that great 😉

Didn’t get any cake at all! In the UK, you cut the cake but don’t feed it to each other so we didn’t get any there. We were too busy dancing when they served it to have any 🙂 and we didn’t save any. No way to transport it home from a DW

@s2bmrscook:  I waaaayyyy over-ordered our large 3 tier wedding cake because cake is my favorite food group. Yes we both had a piece that night after the exchange, and after everyone had their two or three pieces each there was still plenty to snack on for a few days 🙂 it was the best cake I ever had!

I think your idea of ordering a mini version for the 1st anniversary is a great one!!!

Edited to add, yes we froze a large chunk for our first anniversary, which was last week, and we actually just remembered and started to thaw out our cake today. We used a food saver before freezing it, I have high hopes!

I had the one bite that we fed one another, but that was it. I had a terrible stomach ache that day so cake was the last thing on my mind….i was dirnking alka seltzer n water instead of enjoying all the great food. BUT…my husband did have a slice of cake and we froze it and ate it for our honeymoon which was our 5 month anniversary! Im telling you it was the best most dleiciously moist piece of cake I had ever had! My husband doesnt even like sweets and we still talk about how amazing that frozen wedding cake was! We both swear it actually got better by being frozen for 5 months!

We didnt order a new cake for our 1 year, but only because I would have wanted the same exact one form the same bakery and that bakery wa slike an hour n a half away. We just opted for dessert of pound cake, vanilla bean ice cream, hot fudge and carmelized bananas that night.

I don’t remember if I had a piece at the wedding other than what we fed each other.  I had some the next day though.  We mostly served sheet cake at the wedding and cut into the pretty cake at the BBQ the next day.  We also saved our top tier and the fondant protected it from freezer burn.

@Gingerlocks:  I’m sorry did you say cannoli filling?! I’m literally drooling over here. That had to be amazing!

@s2bmrscook:  I didn’t get a piece of the cake at the wedding, only the small bite we fed each other. We were just too busy 🙁 But we saved the top tier of our cake and have it in our freezer for our 1st anniversary. Just over 4 months until I can bite into that peanut butter chocolate ganache slice of heaven! I hope it will still be ok, but if it’s awful I may order a new mini cake.

We did a cupcake tree with a cake on top for us to cut/save. The cake was coconut with buttercream frosting…I had a HUGE slice at the weding, and we froze half for our one year. Now I am hungry for cake.

@s2bmrscook:  aww that’s too bad! The cake was something I legitimately didn’t give a shit about … but I had a piece and it was amazing! I was shocked! Pretty excited to break into the tier in my freezer, though I heard it’d pretty gross after a year.

I did, but I most definitely didn’t eat it all! During the reception I went and sat at a table to chat/catch up with a friend who came from REALLY far away for my wedding. While we were chatting her DH went to get cake and brought back a piece for me. I ate part of it, but I’m actually not a huge fan of cake so I didn’t even eat the whole thing.

We had a cake for 350 people, with just over 200 guests, and had no cake left over. Not kidding. We took home our top layer as our anniversary layer, and then my husband ate it…lol. We got a fresh one on our 1 year anniversary, and my DH ate that too..haha. What can I say, I’m just not a huge fan of cake.
