MechEBee:  My first appt was 7w5d and they did a transvaginal ultrasound to confirm and to date. I hope you get one too!

My very first appt was just talking to a nurse, getting all our history, and getting set up as a patient.  The next one I actually saw the OB and has a transvaginal ultrasound after my normal exam.  That was at 11 weeks.  I had the NT scan at 12 weeks, but won’t have another ultrasound until 19 weeks.

No, just bloodwork.  They would have done a pap but I had one 2 months before.  And she felt my uterus (like they do with pelvic exams).  I had a optional NT scan and then just the 20 week anatomy scan and a 41w scan.  My OB booked ultrasounds separately from appointments FWIW (so I’d have a 10:00am ultrasound with a 10:30am regular appt scheduled- scheduled separately but close together so I could only show up once).

My office does not do an ultrasound before the 12 week NT scan unless there are signs of issues with the pregnancy. But that doesn’t mean your office doesn’t do one for dating purposes, every office is different.

I’m in the US and am going to my first appointment on Dec 17th. They will not do an U/S. The first appointment will consist of the midwives talking to us about genetic testing, nutritional information, general pregnancy related topics, and blood work. I will get an u/s at my 2nd appointment on Jan 2nd.

I’m in the US.  All OB’s offices are different, that’s just how mine works.  I do know if you’re uncertain about your dates, they’re much more likely to give you the first u/s early to date the pregnancy.

Yes, but I was an infertility patient. My clinic does early ultrasounds for all infertility patients — I don’t think I would’ve had one otherwise.

I voted no, because I would not have had an ultrasound before my 12 week NT scan if I had no signs of problems.  I did have spotting early on, though, so I ended up having a transvaginal ultrasound at 6 weeks to confirm that the pregnancy was viable.

I am in the US.  My first appointment was about a week after I got my BFP, and they took a urine sample, blood sample, asked us for family history, and gave us a ton of information about nutrition, etc.  My second appt was an ultrasound at about 7 weeks to give an official EDD. I had another ultrasound unexpectedly the next week at my monthly appt at about 8 weeks. At 12 weeks we heard the heartbeat on the doppler (we chose not to do the NT scans).  I have no idea what to expect at my next appt at about 16 weeks.

My doctor likes to see women for the first appointment between 6-8 weeks to confirm.  I did not get an ultrasound at my first appointment, just a urine test, my husband’s and my medical/family history, and paperwork/information. Second appointment was at 9w5d with a transvaginal ultrasound.

My first appointment with my OB was at 7w4d. Bloodwork and background information and a quick meeting with my midwife

At my 11 week appointment, I heard the heartbeat and had a cervical check.

I just had my one and only ultrasound at 18 weeks for my anatomy scan

My midwife sent me for a 10 week ultrasound. It wasn’t necessary but she gave me the option.

MechEBee:  My first appt with my obgyn was at 10 weeks and I had a quick ultrasound which was AMAZING!  Before that, I only visited my gp for a blood test to confirm the pregnancy.  This weekend I wil be 12 weeks and I am having my NT scan and I am so excited to see baby 🙂
