My company is not very keen on this sort of thing, our christmas at the office consists of a potluck lunch that the empolyees decided to put on for ourselves. My husband on the other hand came home last night with a brand new Kindle Fire from his office! yay!
so i was curious – do you get a gift or bonus from your work? if you got a gift, what did you get?

They threw a lunch for us. It was actually really nice at a banquet hall and had some amazing food. We played some games and some people did a secret santa.

We had a small Christmas party but it was a potluck so they didn’t really give us anything more than the rest of the day off.. A Kindle Fire?!?! WOW! Congrats!

We are going to have a dinner party and we were surprised with bonuses!! I’m so happy because now I can buy Fiance a gift! I almost cried, lol.

Nope we don’t get anything. Pretty sad about it too.
We did have a potluck that we did ourselves… my boss didn’t even bring anything to the potluck.

We got bonuses (not big ones, but who am I to complain!!) and we had the option to participate in a secret santa swap & we had brunch themed potluck earlier this week.

We had a big company Christmas party and everyone received gift cards to Starbucks (we live in Seattle, so most people are coffee addicts). =]

@PinkMagnolia: My old employer was like that. They did absolutely nothing for us. We had a potluck which NONE of the bosses contributed to (yet they all ate the food) and actually some people got laid off the week before. A great Christmas gift, huh?

Nothing. Unless you count being let out at 3pm today (which I don’t). Apparently they used to do bonuses, but that was before my time. Honestly, with how things were this year, I’m just happy to still HAVE a job.

We got our meal mostly comped at our Christmas party a few weeks ago. We got bonuses last year but since budgets are being cut this year, no such luck.

It’s just me and my boss here. He gave me a card with money in it and I gave him a gift card and chocolates. Nothing major, but it was a very sweet gesture.

I am 1 of 2 Employee’s. We each got a Bonus and he took us out to lunch.

We get a party and I’m fine with that. We do a “white elephant” exchange and when I first got here, it was mostly gag gifts. I’ve been working on slowly turning into a wine and dog toys exchange (between about 30 of us, there are 21 dogs). There was one set of dog toys that got “stolen” at least a dozen times. It was so much fun!
Mr. Mink got a fleece jacket with the company logo, pint glasses with the logo, and a bonus. His company throws a huge party at a music venue with a nice caterer, DJ, and open bar. It’s fascinating people watching (they have 3 “branches” so there’s a mix of people from our city and two more rural areas).

@MissCalifornia: I get to leave at 3 today too! there are only 2 of us in my department and we were told one can leave at noon and one can leave at 3. I told him to leave because i left early on thanksgiving.
@MrsWilson2012: i will NEVER say no to a starbucks gift card! oh what i would give for a Chai Tea Latte right now! tastes like christmas!

This year was kind of weird at my job–we all got iPad2s instead of bonuses. They all technically belong to the company, but we get to keep them and take them home. We have a holiday lunch (Cheesecake Factory) and then get to leave afterwards to do Christmas shopping. My personal gift from my boss was a $50 gift card… used to be $200 but the staff has doubled in the last 5 years.
