Just wondering, did anyone get tips or anything done for their wedding? I'm wondering if its a necessity?

Mine are really short but I left them and just opted for a manicure.  I did get the gel polish as I am HARD on my hands and I wanted to get them done a few days before.  They looked great and I am glad that I did it.

I'm wondering the same thing. People keep talking to me about ring pictures. I just want to paint mine a solid pink on my own.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to, but ultimately I had acrylics put on. French tips and I asked them to cut them very short and file them so they had a more natural appearance (I can't handle the square look on me). And I'm so happy I did. They looked great and made me feel more polished.

My real nails are pathetic. lol

I got pink and whites done, they look the most natural for me. There's no way I was leaving my nails undone, I'm a biter and they look terrible! Plus FI always appreciates when they're longer, even thought they're fake, for purposes of back scratching, lol.

@sweetpea87: If you're going on a honeymoon, I'd avoid any acrylics/tips. Depending on how quickly your nails grow, you'll need a fill within 1-2 weeks. They also do a hell of a number on your nails and it may require the full length to grow out before the damage is gone. I'll be getting a basic manicure, either pale pink or french manicure, before the wedding. And by "manicure," I'll be doing something, but that may just be doing them myself (if my hands aren't too shaky from nerves!) or having a manicurist do them. :)

We did, but only because it was a relaxing thing to do with a friend the day before our wedding.  We wore opera gloves for the ceremony, so the nails didn't even show.

Future MIL is insisting on it, but I am super cheap and have never had a manicure.  Part of me just goes, ugg. more money!  But then I tell myself to snap out of it.  it  might be fun if others go with me.

I got a manicure and pedicure the week before.

Ran out of time the week of and day of, but no one seemed to notice. =)

I'm going to get a shellac manicure.  Super easy and impossible to muss up!

I did a French manicure and a pedicure with red polish on the Thursday before the wedding. I went with some of my BMs, and we did my bachelorette party later that night. I was really glad I didn't have to worry about doing my nails myself, but I wish I would've opted for the gel manicure rather than the regular. I had a couple chipped fingers by Saturday (easily fixed with some quick touchups, but still annoying).

I had a manicurist because I wanted my fingernails and toenails red. if I did it myself,  I would do such a sloppy job with such a dark color. I didn't have time to sit around and pick red polish off my cuticles!

@lobbyart: I did a shellac manicure as well in a pale pink. That stuff was amazing - lasted for 2 weeks and I am awful on my nails.

Def get a UV Gel/Shellac manicure. I was able to get it Tues or Wed before the Sat ceremony which was great relief. 1) I wasn't squeezing it in between all the other DIY things I had to do and 2) with the gel/shellac you don't have to worry about chipping (if they do it properly). The other good thing was it lasted well past our Honeymoon.

If you want nice long nails, start going now and getting gel/shellac manicures. Get a french, they look the best growing out. Plan to go every 3 weeks and you'll have really nice strong nails for your wedding.

I love acrylics with the french tip. it doesn't chip off and they are so durable and natural looking! and cheaper than gel. i have had acrylics all my life and i love them.

@lilsweetie:  maybe you think that's natural looking? I don't think it is! It still looks nice though.

I had a mani and pedi done the afternoon before, just a clear coat on my fingernails, some foolishly bright colour on my toes.

There will be so many people looking at your ring/hands plus some close ups by your photographer.  So yes of course, I'm getting my nails done with shellac so it's my natural nails with 2-week stay polish.

My nails are gross and always tear off (yes, tear), so I plan on getting fake ones put on a few days before. For those who want to tackle a manicure yourselves, here's a good link if you've never done it before.

I'm going to do a gel manicure, I'm so hard on my nails and will want it to last through the honeymoon.

@mmsva:  That's a great idea to start soon so they grow out.

I have short nails, but did not want fake nails / tips as I figured that they would not last the 2 week honeymoon, and would start looking tatty.

I had a very pale / shimmery pink colour done in gel, so that there was no risk of chipping.

I also got my toes done, but that was just for the Honeymoon, not the wedding.

Heck yes I did! But I grew mine out just for the wedding. I got them shaped and painted with an "american" style with a slightly shiny tip. Interestingly enough, the night before I got them done, one nail broke almost to the bed. They were able to put a tip on it and you would never know! I wanted simple, natural, yet something somewhat special. In this picture some look normal and some look painted. Oddly enough the one that stands out the most and looks like the fake one, isn't!

Looking at them now, I am kinda wishing I had gotten the tips a little whiter. The flash is making them look MUCH less white and shiney than they did in person darn it.
