I didn’t specifically go in for vaccines before TTC, I stay up to date on them because I work in a school and know I work with kids who haven’t been vaccinated.  I did go in for my flu vaccine before TTC but that one is safe while trying.

I stay up to date on vaccinations, so hopefully this won’t be an issue! I’ll remember the 3 month rule though, thanks!

I didn’t really get tested about my other vaccines, but my rubella titer came back negative (meaning my vaccination wore off/didn’t work) so I had to get it again.  But they said it wasn’t really a big deal to wait anymore.  Most women don’t know they are rubella negative until after they are already pregnant so it’s not a huge deal anymore.  Not sure what other vaccines you have to get though, sorry about the wait!

I keep all of my vaccinations up to date (not that there is a lot you have to keep up with as an adult).

I was pretty up to date to start with so they weren’t worried when I got pregnant.  I was allowed to get the flu shot while pregnant, and my office actually recommends getting a DTAP booster at 8 months to help protect the little one when he’s born.

I asked if I needed any at my last appointment, but the doctor didn’t seem very concerned, so I’m going to be PISSED if get pregnant and SUDDENLY I need them.

My rubella test came back inconclusive, meaning it wasn’t strong enough to guarantee immunity, but not weak enough to need a new one. My doctor was going to retest it during my next 7dpo blood draw. Even if it comes back the same I won’t be getting it again. It is a personal decision. They say you have to wait at least a month but most recommend 3 before TTC after it and we have already been trying for 11m. I’m not waiting any longer. All my other vaccines are UTD, including DTaP. If you haven’t gotten the DTaP recently I’d suggest getting that at least. I have bad reactions to it and am in pain for a week so I absolutely didn’t want to have to get it right after giving birth and then be too weak to hold my new baby.

I’m assuming I’m up to date with my vaccines, to go to a state university I had to be at that point. I work with kids so as an adult I got the hepatitis one. What else is there?

@Duncan:  If it’s for religious reasons, public schools (at least in NY) need to allow them.

@Duncan:  The way I look at it is if all the other kids are vaccinated then at least they don’t need to worry. I think usually it’s considered dangerous when unvaccinated children are around newborns, before they’re able to get their shots.

And I guess I was up to date with my vaccinations, because they didn’t say anything after my blood work!

@abc123joanna:  It’s also dangerous if a kid has lapsed, or a teacher has lapsed.  In general, makes no sense not to vaccinate, but people think all kinds of crazy things.
