I had three fittings and went by myself except for the last one because they suggested I bring someone to learn how to bustle the skirt.  I’m glad I went alone because I didn’t need any extra outside opinions or comments when the dress wasn’t fitted yet.  That might have stressed me out!

Yes! I wanted to go alone to keep the comments to a minimum about my dress changes. I enjoyed seeing the transformation and no one really say my dress until I put in on the day of the wedding!

I took my mom and one of my bridesmaids (the most logical, level headed one) so that I could get some outside opinions on the bustle options and my alteration ideas. I’m REALLY glad I did – I don’t really trust my opinions of myself in clothing 🙂

I went to the first fitting by myself, and I plan on taking my mom to the other one or two (to learn the bustle).  It would’ve felt really unecessary to have someone else there for the first one.

My mom went with me to both of mine. I’m glad she did, she’s better at noticing details and knew exactly what I wanted changed when I couldnt think of how to describe it.

@Cynderbug:  I went to the first alone as no one was available to go. My seamstress was afraid she couldn’t alter the length of my dress (flange/bias cut) and asked to keep it for a week and play around with pinning it to see if she could figure out a way. I was pretty calm – in general I was very much “whatever” with these things, but I was sure relieved when she called and said she could do it.

At one fitting my mom and sister (MOH) were there b/c I went with my sister to her fitting and she asked me to try mine on too.

I don’t think you NEED anyone there (certainly not worth anyone travelling any distance for) but I didn’t make huge changes or anything where I felt I needed advice. length, neckline, and added a sash/bustle. Nothing really dress-changing.

She never asked my opinion…is that bad?  haha.  Its a 5-point bustle on a multi-layered tulle train. I don’t know the technical name for it. It looks nice, so I didn’t worry about it.  She’s knows more than I do, right?
