Did you have a gender neutral baby shower?

@mchitt329:  Honestly, I would stay away from yellow or green. I would get her recieving blankets, burp cloths, some white onesies, bottles, diapers, etc. And if all else fails, I would get a gift card! It’s so hard to buy baby gender neutral…

I would just have her register for whatever she likes also so you all know what she needs and what her preferred brands are!

Furthermore, I am a big advocate for the Sophie Giraffe doll. It excites all 5 senses and they can play with it for years. 🙂

Eta: Wipe warmer, grooming kits, bottle sanitizer… there is literally SO MUCH CRAP you can buy that doesn’t even touch on the gender!

I’m going to my cousin’s gender neutral shower this weekend, it’s their first child so most of the things she’s getting (from what I’ve heard) is super neutral, she needed a stroller, a high chair, safety stuff, bottles, dishes, some basic toys, neutral colored wash cloths, towles, blankets, swaddlers, things like that.

I’ve been on the duty of discouraging buying clothes (except some plain onesies) in favor of gift cards. I doubt everyone will listen, but thankfully she loves green and yellow.

I’m having a gender neutral shower this weekend. (At which we’ll actually tell people there the gender — deliberately trying to avoid the ‘correct’ colour.) I figure there’ll be lots of pink in our future and it would be nice to receive things that could be a bit more neutral/good for second kid.

Personally, what I’d love would be lots of primary colour stuff — really vibrant red, blues, greens, purples. And essentials, things we’d need and haven’t thought of like wipes, or cloth diapery stuff (since we’re doing that), fun CDs for baby, wooden toys, teethers, books. And I registered for Sophie like most folk.

So it makes sounds and smells that last for years?  And what does it taste like?  Should a baby be putting that in their mouth?

BabyDane loves Sophie!  It squeaks, has a neat texture, easy to grab onto, and is a wonderful teething toy.

I was Team Green throughout my pregnancy, and wound up getting some really useful items.  We got the activity playmat, a walker for later, a little bathtub, about a million washcloths and towels, burp rags, receiving blankets, several gender neutral outfits (most of which we kept since we knew baby would be growing a lot at the beginning).  We also got several diapers in various sizes, some toys, bottles, bottle brush, and lots of gift cards so we could purchase our travel system.

OMG I swear that sophie the giraffe is like kid crack. There isn’t a baby I know who isn’t obsessed with it!

I’d wait for her to register before putting too much money into buying much more. She might actually pick some clothes, or color combo’s on blankies etc. But aiden and anais swaddlers are another really awesome item that come in a lot of gender neutral patterns.

@lolita39:  Can you please tell me what the deal is with this giraffe??  I’ve seen it before and I don’t know what all it does!

ETA-Nevermind!  Just saw the link!
