Quick background – My Fiance & I are having my e-ring custom designed, and it’s taking a long time to come together as I insisted he be the point of contact for the ring though he’s busy with his firefighter training. (I have some really weird notions.) It’s still some months away from completion, and I haven’t exactly been very good about shutting it up.
Last Sunday, my Fiance surprised me with a Cartier Trinity as the salesgirl remarked that it may be discontinued (I was eyeing the extra slim edition). When we sat down for dinner in a rather meh place, I told him that I wish I walked into Cartier earlier as I wouldn’t have minded having this ring as my proposal ring instead of the diamond ring. He then reached into the paper bag to pull out the box, only to have me go “NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!” He wanted to propose on the spot! (It may also be partly my fault for showing him the very well executed Cartier proposal ads that absolutely captivated him.)
He has been planning the proposal since we started dating, and though he would probably propose again with the diamond, I didn’t want my first (what a weird thought) proposal to be so carelessly thrown out just because we are itchy to be engaged. Honestly, it wouldn’t have truly mattered since the man matters more than the proposal, but I want it to be a once in a lifetime epic event. Am I the only one who is crazy enough to make her boyfriend propose “properly”?
