I think I’m confused as to what a hostess actually does….

Maybe it’s a regional thing that makes me clueless?

Maybe it’s a regional thing, but I’ve never even heard of this. What is it?

@MuchGreater: So basically they are an unpaid day of coordinator? …I would just hire someone.

It is semi-regional, I think…I hear “hostesses” in the Midwest more, “house party” in Texas more.  My house party is helping with guestbook, programs, gifts, and serving cake.

I’m pretty sure that I’m going to have a friend do some of that stuff (a friend who loves organizing,) like being the contact person for different things, and maybe moving some of the flowers to the reception from the ceremony. I guess I’ve just never heard it called hostess before.

Must be regional.

I hired a DOC to be sure everything runs smoothly.

Ushers usually seat people and give programs.

Hmmm…. The wheels are turning.  A good excuse to use my FI’s 17 and 18 year cousin somewhere in the wedding.

@baletrina: Exactly.  I was a hostess MANY times in my teens!  If they’re reliable, nice girls, go for it!

I didn’t know that hostesses were a regional thing.

I haven’t officially asked yet, but I’m looking at having 7 – 12 hostesses the day of. They will help setup in the morning, and help the DOC with anything she needs help with.

If you’re wondering, I have 200+ guests.
