@beachbridebc:  I had someone come to my hotel room and I’m glad I did. It was perfect!

I absolutely had pro makeup done!!  I used to model and there is no comparison between my own makeup job and a job done by a pro.  Just none.  To me it was essential to use a makeup artist.

I also had pro-makeup done for my BMs and MIL, and they all turned out great. My BMs looked better than me! LOL!!!

Don’t worry about going to your makeup person, any good makeup artist will come to your house/place.  They normally have a huge kit (like HUGE) and will bring everything they could possibly need to your place.

I had someone come to me the day of my wedding. SHe was wonderful the day of and at my trial. I wouldnt have wanted to do it myself and I’m really into makeup and do it for others.

I did my own make-up and my own hair for the wedding. It was one of the best things I could have done for myself – I only paid $10 for a bun dome (check sites like Ebay) that I bobby-pinned to the back of my head. It matched my natural hair color almost perfectly.

As far as make-up, I’ve never been big on heavy, dramatic make-up anyway, and I don’t trust anyone around my eyes (mascara and eyeliner). I practiced a few times before the wedding and I was very happy with it. Less is sometimes more. Getting a dramatic necklace, a nice pair of drop earrings, etc., could accomplish the dramatics as well as make-up if you happen to do it yourself.

Alternatively, I was looking at $150 – $200+ to have both my hair and make-up done. It depends on your priorities.

I liked that I didn’t have to wait on someone else or involve yet another person in the wedding. I felt like my pictures turned out great, even with the make-up I did (and I’m no professional).

Learning how to pull off some smoky eyes can go a long way. I’ve never had that steady of a hand with eyeliner, so to pull off an eyeliner effect, I used my fingertip to spread black eyeshadow along the lash line. Looked great, didn’t smudge, etc.

I had professional make up applied for engagement photos and my wedding photos. Both were mobile hair and make up artists that could come to you on the wedding day. I almost never wear make up so it was worth it. Jayna Marie did my wedding day hair and make up

Totally had a Professional MUA do my makeup as well as all my BM’s makeup. I splurged and got one of the best companies. They have been featured on my fair wedding with David Tutera and The real housewives of OC “Tamars OC wedding”, SOOOOOO TOTALLY worth every penny spent!!! She was AMAZING!!! Here’s some pics of how amazing she made me look.  🙂

My hair stylist did mine as my “gift” – she was also a guest. When we did my trial she said there was no way she would let me do my own makeup. She did an AMAZING job. I missed  Makeup Day in Girl School (along with Blow Drying Hair day and Looking Put Together Day and Curling Iron Day…) and I can do okay myself, but she made me look amazing. Absolutely worth it, even if I had paid.

I had a pro do it because I can barely handle makeup to go out on the weekend. I didn’t love it but it was better than what I could have done. Are you good at doing makeup? Do you already have everything you would need?

I did my own, I went to Sephora and bought some good products, did a practice round, and then applied myself. Every time i get my make up done by someone I don’t feel like myself. I think it turned out great and held up REALLY well in the 100 degree heat.

I didn’t really have the option to have someone come do my make up in the area we got married, and I didn’t have time to go to someone either.

I bought all the makeup for my wedding (and did some trials before hand) and then my sister did the application on wedding day. It was a great decision! I got to spend time with my sister and it looked great and I didn’t have to spend money on a pro or have a stranger getting ready with me (other than my photog, I guess!).

I have had my makeup done professionally twice in my life. The first was at good old Glamour Shots when I was, like, 14. I didn’t know a thing about makeup so I thought it was awesome until my face broke out in hives from an allergic reaction and I had to be put on steroids. Then, a few years ago, I had airbrushed pro makeup when I was a bridesmaid in a friend’s wedding. My own mother didn’t recognize me until I was halfway down the aisle. I didn’t really look horrible. But not good and not like myself. And I had another allergic reaction! This was less severe and cleared up after several doses of Benadryl. But yeah, I think I’m done with pro makeup!

I kind of wish I had just practiced a lot and done my own. It looked fine, but just wasn’t anything special.

I am so glad I had mine done professionally.  I think it was $75; I didn’t have to pay for it.  But it was such a relief to know that I didn’t have to worry about ANYTHING that day…not what I was wearing, not what I was doing with my hair, not what I was doing with my makeup…it was all planned.  It really helped me stay calm.

I had my makeup professionally done because I don’t wear make up. I was okay with teaching myself some basics, but then I realized I was going to end up spending a bit of money on experimenting then never using the stuff again. I figured I might as well spend it on someone who can do the work for me and has top of the line stuff.

My MUA came to my hotel on the morning of. We had a great trial, and my day-of look matched my trial almost exactly. It was a great investment for convenience and piece of mind for me.
