we’re having a terrible time trying to decide on a venue (as those of you who’ve seen some of my previous posts may know). When you picked your venue was there a ‘this is it’ moment or did you pick it for a practical reason? I’m getting so stressed about not having a location. We’re less than a year out from our ‘dream date’ (April/May 2014) and we have no venue!

@MsGinkgo: nope- It was more of a good, comfortable vibe and that the venue was in our budget with room to breathe.
Also, the “good vibe” I’m talking about was both about the place AND the people working there. There was a dream venue we found, in our price range, but the woman who coordinated everything was so disorganized and SO rude.
Try making a pro/con list of your top three? (Sorry, I havent seen/read your other posts…)

@jasonkatie2014: Thanks. We’ve been looking at a lot of places and every time I think we have a place we love something happens that kills it (price, distance, logistics – or my FH admits that he didn’t love it as much as me, I do know that if I love it, he’ll go for it)

Yes I did!!! And my fiancé and mom could totally see it on my face. Its just amazing. I love it and can’t wait to have my wedding there!

We had the “moment” and we booked, then the reality of working with them set in lol.

@MsGinkgo: The right one will come along! I had a really hard time finding one too. There were also two other places we visited that I really liked, but FH didn’t like (he’s a bit of a groomzilla ) so we had to keep looking. It will happen!

@MsGinkgo: Both my FI and I knew right away with our venue.
I could say that it was a “this is it!” moment, but there was a lot of factors going into the moment.
First the price, well more importantly what you get with the price. We found a few slightly cheaper venues, but this one had so many perks that the extra money was worth it.
Second was the vibe, the ambiance of the venue. It looked grand, old worldly (built in 1840) yet with modern touches.
The food was also a factor, the downstaires restaurant caters the venue, and I LOVE their food! Delicious italian food!
So I think when we put all these together it built up to that “ah ha!” moment.
I don’t think I would ever have a “this is it” if the price was too high, my reasoning doesn’t work like that. Lol.

- Wedding: August 2013 - The Liberty House
I had the moment! It’s the only thing I’ve had a moment with in my whole wedding so far (other than the groom of course!)

Yes. I didnt want to look anywhere else.

I deff had a “this is it moment” with our venue, but I didn’t with other aspects (dress etc.) of the wedding planning so far. Don’t put so much pressure on yoruself. Some things will be easy and you will feel drawn to and others will be “good enough”.

I got married at the place that I had dreamed about getting married at since I was a kid, and it happened to fit price/food/convenience too. But it was mostly just “the place”. We toured other places, but kept coming back to the one.

Before we were even engaged, we knew our venue. My parents live in a gated community that has a country club, and it’s gorgeous. My dad’s office Christmas parties have been held there the last few years and they do a wonderful job. So when we were engaged, we already knew our wedding would be there. There wasn’t a “moment”, but I think that’s because I’d known for a while that we would get married there- it is perfect for us!

@MsGinkgo: No, in fact, I didn’t see anything but online photos of it until after we had put a deposit down on it. It was 600 miles away from here in Greenwood, IN. I did my research on it though and I’m glad I went with them. They met and exceeded my expectations.

We just chose ours. It is our style, it is where we want, we can do a ceremony & reception there. Everyone was friendly and organized, AND it is at the very high end of our price range, but it will be worth it. We were planning to spend the most on venue & food.
