I’m getting a moissanite e-ring soon (waiting, waiting…) and I wanted to know how many Bee’s purchased insurance for it? I know it’s not a super expensive ring but I’d like to not have to shell out a ton of money if it gets stolen or damaged.
So, to insure or not to insure?

I have moissanite and I didn’t insure it. To me, it just isn’t worth enough to buy insurance for it. Also, I didn’t know how the appraisal process would go, since it’s not a natural gem.

I got my ring just over a week ago and SO got it appraised and we are getting insured. We are doing it because I misplace jsut about everything and i’m extremley clumsy so we would like to be on the safe side!

I have a moissy and I insured it. It was really cheap and much more affordable than I thought it was going to be. I added it to my renters insurance and it ended up being an extra 14 dollars a year. I think it’s worth it for the piece of mind.

Yep, we just added it to our homeowners policy. I think it ended up costing like $20/year or something ridiculous like that. We just had to present the paperwork for the ring.

I think it’s worth insuring. think about it this way — moissanite rings cost around the same as cameras, laptops, and smart phones, and people insure those things all the time.
my moissanite wedding band was only $450, and yes, it’s insured. but it was convenient– I think all we had to do was add it to our list of property insurance, so maybe it didn’t cost us any more to do so. my SO takes care of that so I’m not sure. I don’t think I would have gone out of my way to get “ring insurance” just for that ring only.

My moissanite e-ring is quite large and custom so I do think I’ll have it insured as it’s worth a considerable amount (I’d be screwed if something happened!). Has anybody added insurance through their renters insurance with progressive?
