hehe I think you mean the reception, the officiant by definition must be there for the wedding itself. And yes.

I’m confused. Doesn’t the officiant perform the wedding? Are you asking about the reception?

When I was reading traditional etiquette it is considered polite to invite the officiant and his partner to the reception afterwards.

Our officiant is also the best man, so of course we invited him to stay LOL!

He is the minister of my church and I get on well with him and his wife so even if he wasn’t the minister and officiating our wedding, I would probably still invite them anyway.

We invited our officiant and his wife. I figured it’d be the polite thing to do, after he spent his Saturday afternoon officiating our wedding!

Oh gosh, this made me think!! I assumed not, but then that seems rude! Just texted my mom to ask what she thinks (he’s the pastor of her church) – curious to see the poll results!

Yes, we invited ours. But he didn’t show.

yes, because she and her husband are old family friends. otherwise we wouldn’t have. from what I can remember, no one else in our family invited theirs to the reception.

We’re planning on it. But it might be different with us because he’s also a friend.

i thought it was polite to extend the invitation even if he/she is likely to decline or leave after dinner.

In our case, our minister was a coworker and friend of Husband. Our minister runs the church as a second job. We didn’t even think about not inviting him and his wife.
