I agree with the person above me. A corset back IS forgiving but if you can delay the fitting then that’s what I’d suggest.

Also, I’ve seen pictures of you in your dress that you posted before. You already look great in it!

I would not lose any more weight after your final fitting. You should be at your ideal wedding weight when you go so that your dress can be fit to your body and you are not uncomfortable (the dress is too big/too small) the day of your wedding. Definitely delay the fitting until you are comfortable- maybe at the end of November!

cls9q:  I have heard from at least 3/4 friends that you inevitably lose about 5lbs from stress and running around the last 2 weeks or so before the wedding.  Is that enough to make the dress be too big?  IDK.  Don’t try for it, though.  I’ve seen your dress pics, you look absolutely perfect!  You don’t want any gapping.

I definitely had to use a lot of willpower the week before the wedding not to GAIN weight – so many dinners and events with out of town guests.

I lost the most amount of weight in the two months leading up to my last fitting which was about 3 weeks from my wedding and I’m very happy I did it that way.

I did and my dress was big at the wedding. It wasn’t a big deal, but I kept having to pull it up.

cls9q:  it will be ok! Just put all of your energy into the next 3 weeks (also, I haven’t like looked at your profile so I have no idea if u actually have ten pounds to lose, just going off of what u are saying!). I hate to sound shallow but looking at my wedding photos I am so glad that I slimmed down for the day. I look better and I felt way more comfortable in my tight dress. It’s worth it! So just lose for the next three weeks and then stop- focus on feeling really healthy for the 6 weeks before the wedding, do toning exercises, take care of your skin, etc. You’ll be fine!

I lost a few pounds in the week before the wedding and it does show a little in my pictures. My dress was very slinky with no boning, and it was completely backless so it wasn’t as forgiving as a corset. In pictures where flash was used, you can see that the lining is a little bunched up. So I think it would really depend on your dress. I would definitely ask your seamstress.

cls9q:  If you are wanting to lose some weight, I would look into the “Eat to Live” by Dr. Fuhrman program. Essentially, it is going vegan for the first 6 weeks and then slowly adding in animal products but in smaller amounts than we normally eat.

It’s essentially about eating healthier to lose weight and protect against disease, but in the first 6 weeks of the program, you will naturally lose weight. I have just started week 2 and I’m already down 5 lbs. Granted I have more to lose overall, but it just slides off. You have to do a lot of prep work and change the way that you eat, but so far so good!

I lost around 7 lbs the last 10 days before the wedding. I was just so so stressed-everything I ate went right through me until I got to the point where I could only eat toast lol. Luckily my last fitting was 2 weeks before the wedding and it was a little tight at that point. It fit great on the wedding day. It took me over a week to get my appetite back! But I generally don’t handle stress well.

PS i do think the corset back on  your dress will help! But also, try not to focus on losing weight – focus on enjoying these last moments of planning! I wish I had been able to just savor the process, but I was just too stressed with ridiculous last minute things (day of coordinator bailed, seamstress did bustle totally wrong and we had to do the 4 hour drive two additional times, etc).

At my last fitting (2.5 weeks before the wedding) the dress was 4 inches too big, even with the corset clinched (and I didn’t lose any weight)! They just said they’d fix it and I put in on my wedding day with fingers crossed. It wasn’t perfect but the corset definitely helped, although I wish it wasn’t tied so close together in photos, oh well. I think if the dress fits now and you lose weight you’d be fine with the corset, I wouldn’t worry about it.
