Did you lose weight before your wedding?

I already have my dress, but the chest is a bit snug and I get very self conscious of my arms. I’m hoping to shed a few before September, but I guess realizing that you’re beautiful no matter what, and the right dress will flatter you no matter what kinda helps 🙂

I bought my first dress in November. I was trying to lose weight because it did not fit right in the hips and tummy area. But I just couldn’t stick with it for more than a few days. Finally dress regret got the best of me and I exchanged it for a new dress that was a completely different style (more simple and elegant). Now I am extremely critical of myself in pics, but I have ti say that I loved every pic taken of me in it. There wasn’t a single bad one. BUT I definitely want to tone my arms and thin down my dace before my wedding and knowing that I’m going to look awesome in the perfect dress has been motivation enough to lose 5 lbs already.

I did lose weight before my wedding. It wasn’t just for the wedding though- it was a lifestyle change. I did not lose this weight before dress shopping though so I lost a good 25-30 pounds after buying my dress (which was slightly large to begin with).

BriteCrayon:  That might be an option down the road. Right now our budget is unbelievably tight, so my main strategy is to limitmy portions drastically and move as much as possible! It will work for a little while and then closer to the wedding (Oct 19th)  I will havecto get serious and kick it up a notch. I have great success in losing weight; its keeping it off that I have a hard time with! 🙂

BriteCrayon:  my wedding is 5/3, and i started really watching my diet and exercising in mid-january. since then i’ve lost about 18 lbs…and i am feeling good about the results : ) just wanted to trim up a little…i know there’s no miracle that can happen in 4 months, but at least i’ll feel better. i’m definitely confident in my body no matter what, but the weight loss is helping a bit!

I haven’t made any conscious plans to lose weight, when I bought my dress I fit a stock size perfectly.  However I did decide to do more walking (something I love anyway) and due to the stress of life (mother dying, being unemployed, finding a new job, planning a wedding, etc.) I find that I have been losing weight unintentionally.  I go in for alterations in two months so we’ll see how well I fit it then.

I bought my dress two sizes too small on purpose.  I’ve lost 30lbs and still going. At this point, my dress zips up and fits comfortably. My wedding is in August and I have no plans on stopping my weight loss. I’ll probably have to get it taken in!

BriteCrayon:  I lost 32lbs. Yes, I did it for a “healthier lifestyle”, but the wedding was def the catalyst for that. Anyone who tells you they did it just for their health is probably lying, if it was conveniently just prior to their wedding. I see so many bees making other bees feel bad about wanting to lose weight for one of the most important days of their lives, assuming it’s for the wrong reasons. As long as you take it and run with it longterm, I say more power to ya’. My dress had to be altered quite a bit. However, looking at photos, I would 100% have done it all over again. A hundred times. I have kept ALL the weight off, and then some. Def my best “wedding investment”, that’s for sure.

BriteCrayon:  That’s awesome. I’ve wanted to start a paleo diet too. Is there a link to this challenge?

I bought my dress in November, but have lost weight since I started Pilates, coupled with eating clean, in Janaury. I eat 3 meals a day and two snacks. I also only work out 4-5x a week.
