Did you make any wedding plans before the ring?

@shellybee13:  I had 10 months to plan my wedding and was able to get my first choice in venue during a fairly busy time.  I didn’t plan anything beforehand, but I think each couple’s situation is different.

yes it is! i was in the same boat. we discussde it but he wanted the surprise proposal. so i had no idea of when it would actually happen so we started planning in advance because i was scared that venues would book up. so i used that time to narrow down venues and photographers even though we didnt book until i actually had the ring. but the places i looked at had the date we wanted available so it was easy for us. i dont think theres any harm in “pre-planning”

@shellybee13:  I kind of have this superstition that it is bad luck to talk about the wedding before getting engaged… don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched!

We haven’t booked a venue yet, but we’ve started talking about where we might like to have a reception , and I bought an out-of-print dress pattern (to put aside until this winter). Mostly, I’ve just been looking at ideas. None of the plans are really set in stone yet.

I think it is one thing to get ideas, but nothing should be booked until after the actual engagement!

We are engaged and planning our wedding without a ring. We’re getting the ring this fall. You don’t have to have a ring to plan a wedding, but you do have to be on the same page about planning it, because planning a wedding together = engaged. Have you discussed this with him?

I did not plan anything before receiving a ring and proposal.  We planned our wedding in 6 months.

@shellybee13:  I have the EXACT same problem. He says he will give me a ring before the end of the year, and we agreed on a September or October 2014 wedding. I’m hoping he’ll propose in September or October so it won’t be a big issue, but I don’t know if he will or not.

I’m only lookig at venues currently. I haven’t bought or even planned anything really. But it would be nice to have a venue picked out so I can book it as soon as he asks. Although I haven’t found one that I like yet. haha

No way. An hour or so after we got engaged though, my mom called the venue for open dates though.

Also, Pintrest is nice for getting ideas. I have a hidden board there that I put cute wedding ideas at.
