Ok, so I was bored at lunch today and was perusing the list of this week’s marriage license applicants in my county. I was so surprised at how many of the license applicants listed the same address for the bride and groom that I actually stopped and counted There were 51 applications, and of those, only ten showed the bride and groom having separate addresses. So thats like 81% of couples (in this county, this week) lived together before marriage.
I guess I’m a bit out of touch. I realized a lot of people lived together before marriage, but I never expected it to be an overwhelming majority like that.
I lived with my husband for a while before our wedding. We hadn’t intended to, but he just kept spending more time at my house until he was for all practical purposes living there, but we still had our own houses, so we had separate addresses. I’m guessing that a few of those ten are in a similar situation, so the proportion living together may be even higher than 81%.

We are not engaged yet, but we bought a house and moved in together this past May so we are a yes on that.

We lived together for just over 2 years before we got married. I wanted to live together before getting married. I think you see a persons whole other side when living together. Their bad habits espeically!

We’ve been living together for 2 years now. We knew we were committed to each other so we bought a house. We’re getting married next August and it’ll be 3 years that we’ve been living together! I think that most of my friends are in the same situation. Thinking back to the last 5 weddings I’ve been to… I think all of them had lived together first.

We lived together for 6 months before we got engaged, and another 5 months before we got married.

We had been living together for a year prior to getting married. Before that, we were long-distance, but had we not been, we would have lived together then, as well.

Yes, by our wedding we will have officially lived together for three years, and one year unofficially – i.e., he crashed at my apartment most nights because he had bad roommates.

We’ve been living together for 3 years now… and a lot of couples we know live together.
Just curious though… do you think they have written the same address even though they don’t live together? (ie the address where they live together AFTER they’re married?) I only say this because I sometimes use my apartment address and sometimes still use my parent’s address depending on what it’s for.

Uh, kinda. We rent together with my mom and we’ve lived together for years but for various other reasons he kept his official residence as his parent’s home until around 6 months before the wedding. So on our marriage certificate it lists us at two different addresses because when we applied for it we were officially not living together.

We lived in two different states so one of us had to move. My FI just moved in around 3 weeks ago. He can work from home and my apt is way cheaper than his. It just made sense. So far so good!!
