I did! Mine was a semi-bezle set and one day I was looking at bands and saw this setting with two small side stones and a milgrain pave shank and fell in love. I didn’t know I wanted more sparkle until I invisioned what my stone would look like in it. I kinda sheepishly told my Fiance I wanted a little more sparkle and that this local jeweler had a 20% sale and I found a new setting I loved. We had already changed the setting bc, girl’s worst nightmare, my stone popped out of the original tiffany setting the DAY after we got engaged so I got all obsessed about stone safety and got this huge thick setting and realized after I loved the daintyness and extra sparkle a classic tiffany had. We ended up with something close to what he picked out but replaced the head with platinum so I felt reassured. Also my thick setting got super scratched within a few months so I wanted the pave to hide any potential scratches, and for more sparkle of course. He was ok with it bc of the reasoning.

I definately consider my ring perfect. It’s not what I would have picked for myself when I think about it, but it’s perfect because it came from his heart and when he saw it he knew it was the one for me. I’m proud of it. A jeweler recommend a few months ago that I get it reset (it’s 3yrs old), which broke my heart. You see one of my prongs is a little bent and there for not holding my diamond as close as it should. :(. I have to say though I will be getting multiple opinions before I let anyone change one thing about my ring. It’s not the diamond that makes it important. It’s the whole shabang. It’s what he held out to me when he said “Will you marry me?” The look on his face (yea I didn’t even look at the ring at first) and the story he tells often of how he picked it out and his pride in it makes me tear up. I couldn’t imagine changing a thing about it.
