We recently went to a wedding where the bride hired this hip hop dance group that her husband loved. He had no idea they were going to be there. He FLIPPED out! (in a good way!) He was so happy that they were there on their wedding day.
Have you been to a wedding with a surprise for the groom or guests? Have you done it?

my sister did the best thing for her husband. she had it printed in the programs too: Brides surprise for the groom.
well, here is a quick background. my sister’s husband moved to Canada with her from Morocco, and none of his family could attend the wedding. so when she was visiting his family with him, she secretly videotaped everyone saying messages to her hubby. had the videos complied and edited and then played it for him at their wedding! everyone including her hubby was crying it was so sweet!

Not at the reception, but at the ceremony, I’m going to walk down the aisle to an instrumental version of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica. FI loves Metallica (me, not so much). I think he’ll love it.

on my big friggin wedding, one of the grooms hired a lady gaga impersonator as a surprise for his wife. it was pretty hilarious!

Our grooms “cake” will be a surprise for Fiance. He LOVES all of those novelty deserts (twinkies, ho-hos, funny bones, etc.) so I’m going to be setting up a “Junk Food Mountain” which will include all of those, mini cinnamon buns (his ABSOLUTE favorite), mini frosted donuts and a few other things I come up with along the way. My plan is to have all of the desserts made by a local bakery so that they are fresh and yummy. Its hard to picture but everything will be piled in the shape of a mountain and set up next to our wedding cake. If executed correctly, I think it will be pretty cool and Fiance will absolutely love it.

I went to a wedding where the groom was a musician (he doesn’t have a career in music, but it’s a huge hobby and probably the most important part of his life). The wife hired a drumline without him knowing. They played some songs and then gave him his own drum, so he could have a “drum-off” with one of the band members. He really enjoyed it and it was great entertainment for all the guests.

I have something up my sleeve, but I don’t want to say anything here since Fiance has an account. >_>

@UpstateCait: Our groom’s cake is going to be a surprise for my Fiance too!
He’s a huge Star Trek nerd and his favorite character is Spock. I’m going to have bobbleheads made of us in Star Trek uniforms to use as cake toppers. Then I’m going to get a toy Enterprise to put on the cake with the message, “Live Long and Prosper With Me”. I told him he can pick the flavor, but everything else is a surprise. 😀

Ye. My gift to my hubby was the song he always wanted for our first dance that I had said no to off the bat. He had no idea until he heard it playing. He was so happy.

I surprised Mr. Library with a groom’s cake shaped like an A1 Steak Sauce bottle since he eats it on everything. Groom’s cakes aren’t really well known in Maine, so it was a cool surprise for everyone!

I REALLY want to surprise him with a sword/champagne toast. He loves medieval history, and had said once that it would be fun to be able to ‘chop’ off the neck of the champagne bottle for the toast.
We’ll see if we can make it work! 🙂
