Oh yes, we will definitely be tipping the kitchen! My fiance is a chef in a restaurant, and he has made it clear that he would rather tip the kitchen than the waitstaff (both are getting paid RIDICULOUS hourly rates by our caterer), because without them, we would just have crap food! :)
I'm going to mediate this, and we'll probably tip the waitstaff as well as the kitchen staff a flat amount per person.
Our food cost is $5000 ($40/person), and we're going to have 4 cooks and 7 servers....20% would be just under $100/person, and I was thinking maybe a little less than that (maybe $75/person?) since they're each making $25+/hr for the wedding. Btw, gratuity is not required by our caterer.
Hope this helps!
I think that is perfect for a 5000 catering. 20% is logical, but I think since they are getting paid that much, that you could do the 75.00 and be fine! Wow these things are so expensive, lol.

So I'm wondering if anyone or will anyone tip the chef or cooks?
