I brought spanx, a strapless bra, a pair of super high heeled shoes, and some chandelier earrings. I think the spanx were a waste of time though because wedding dresses are so structured that it really didnt make a difference. Def bring the bra and shoes though.
I just went with a strapless bra and full coverage undies. You can go for spanx if you want, they will provide more modesty in the dressing room. But I found that dresses with a corset back will do a lot to enhance your figure.
I wore spanx, longline strapless and brought heels. I usually wear spanx and I am wearing them on my wedding day, not necessarily to hold me in because the bra does that, but because it does truly smooth you out.
Spanx and a strapless bra! I wanted to be a little more covered - I'm easily embarrased!
I wore a Spanx-like strapless slip both times I went dress shopping. It was more light/medium control (not the industrial-strength kind LOL), and it did help me feel a little more confident in the dressing room. I also liked that I was a bit more covered up if the salesperson had to help me get into a dress. When my dress came in and I went to my first fitting, I forgot the slip, and was very pleasantly surprised to find out that I didn't really need it.
i'm taking my spanx and strapless bra. like a couple other people said, it's for modesty more than anything!
I wore spanx and a long-line strapless bra. I had to use their crinolines. I also brought the shoes I was thinking of wearing.
I wore high heels, what I call my wanna-be-Spanx which are cut like a boyshort, so they smoothed stuff out, but provide full coverage (I typically wear thongs and wanted to spare the consultant from having to see my booty) and strapless bra.
yup. Spanx, long line strapless bra, and my wedding shoes
i wore them. when i made the appointment i asked what most people wore and she said spanx and a strapless bra. i had never worn spanx before, so i had to go out and buy some. when i put them on there was a pee slit in them!! i had no idea! so i threw a pair of nylons over them because i didn't want to change in front of some lady wearing unattractive, easy access undies
I wore spanx and a strapless bra too, I felt much more comfortable that way!
Just strapless bra and regular panties (though wear nude or white ones) lol I had blue stripped ones on the first time I went and got teased for it from my MOH because you could see the faint blue line of the stripes
no i dont wear spanx. I just wore my crinoline and regular strapless bra when I went to try on my dress. but I did buy 2 longline bras though and I will take the longline bra with me when I go for my first fitting
i had the most ridiculous gett-up on. I had spanx and a strapless bandeau camisole on - all nude in color. i looked like a naked ninja.
after some reflection, with the style of dress i was looking at (a-line), the spankx weren't needed, but they did cover me up which was nice.
@babybluz: OMG, "naked ninja" - I just nearly spit out my tea!
I went shopping twice, both times wearing regular underclothes. David's Bridal provided a long line bra and two slips, one tightly fitted and one to fill out the dresses.
@babybluz: too funny!
@MaraBeth: I haven't gone dress shopping yet, but I really need to! It kind of terrifies me. I'm super modest, so I'll probably wear spanx or something to cover me up.
@heather5743: I actually went this weekend (and found a dress! yay!) and I decided to bring spanx along and just wear some nude boyshorts. I figured the consultants are so used to seeing brides at every stage of undress, and once I started trying on the dresses, I realized most had so much structure that spanx wouldnt do much!
If you're looking at lightweight dresses or sheaths, they might come in handy, but all of the dresses I tried on had boning or corsets and didnt really need anything extra!
I wore spanx because I knew the salesperson would be helping me dress and I wouldn't feel super comfortable standing there in my underwear. I think they're comfortable actually so...dunno.

I am going out of town to go dress shopping and as I'm packing, I'm wondering what to wear to my appointment. I am probably going to wear a casual dress to be comfortable but I don't know what to wear under it. Did you wear spanx or a body shaper to your dress shopping appointments? If not, did you bring something like that with you?
