I bought a pair of earrings to wear for my wedding, which I wont wear until then. But I will also be wearing a pearl necklace I already owned, so obviously I’ve worn that and will continue to wear it up until the big day.

My wedding jewlery was either personally important pieces I wear all the time or it was my “something borrowed” from my sister.  So the personal stuff I wore all the time, the borrowed stuff I didn’t wear in advance.

The earrings I am wearing are ones I’ve already owned for years! I’m not wearing anything else.

All of my wedding jewelry was borrowed, so I could not wear them beforehand.

I’ve put mine away in a drawer with our wedding bands.  Won’t be wearing my necklace and earrings until the big day!  I’d say don’t wear it before before your wedding so it is special and feels “new” on your day.

I wore the earings to see how heavy they could get – sometimes I can only have earings in for about half a day..

and my ring of course 😉

My wedding jewelry was a pearl set that I already had…the bracelet and the necklace were made from a longer strand my grandmother had given my mom and the earrings were a gift for my high school graduation.  My mom had the clasp turned into a pendant and wore it on my wedding day.  I also wore my grandmother’s e-ring and a diamond bracelet I received as a 21st birthday gift.  I had worn it prior to the wedding but not in the months prior.

@cbgg:  Same here. I’m not married yet, but I’ll be wearing the locket FI got me for valentine’s day a few years back (I wear it almost every day) and I’m planning to wear the diamond earrings my dad got me for college graduation, which I also wear very often. These pieces hold a lot of sentimental value, so I wear them often because I don’t like to be apart from them. I will definitely also want to wear them at the wedding! I’ll probably wear a bracelet from my aunt for my something borrowed, and that I will not wear in advance.

My “something blue” was a tanzanite ring my grandmother bought me when I was young. My mother gave it to me at my bridal shower, and I wore it a few times, and then stopped…it’s a little big and I was scared I’d lose it.

I had a difficult time finding jewelry that had the right blend of modern lines and tons of sparkle for my wedding. I spent entirely too many hours searching high and low for those pieces to risk them getting damaged by wearing them before my wedding day.

Okay so I wore a bracelet that my grandmother had.  After she died, I confiscated it and kept it until I gave it to my sister.  My sister let me borrow it, it has a pearl and some other colored jewels on it including blue so it was my something old, something borrowed, something blue.  My lotus pearl earrings and necklace were new and I didn’t wear those prior to the wedding.  My sister and my best friend both got the same earrings and necklace as their gifts.

    Ask yourself these questions:

Did you buy the ring because you love it, or did you buy it as a special thing to wear on your wedding day?

     – If you just love it and the wedding is a good excuse to buy it – then wear it! You’ll enjoy wearing it and it’s better to get your moneys worth, right?

     – If you bought it as a “special thing” then don’t wear it. You bought it so that it would be a part of your wedding and something that, when you looked at, would remind you of that day. It would be another special new thing to wear and look forward to.

How many other new things do you have to wear on the day? Veil? The dress? Shoes? Perfume? Necklace?

    – If you have many new things, will one more new thing really be missed if it isn’t so new?

    – If you don’t have many new things, do you feel like you need some new things to help keep the day special?

    Hope that helps!
