I have heard about people who send wedding invitations to their favorite celebrities, musicians, athletes, etc. Have you ever done this? Did you get a reply back at all? I have heard that some people will send cards. Just curious to see who has done this.

I’m inviting a quite famous person to my wedding, but she’s only famous here in the Czech Republic, and she’s my friend.
If I were going to invite a famous person I don’t know… I suppose it’d be President Obama. Or Johnny Depp.

I’ve read that if you send President Obama an invite, you will get a card back from him and Michelle. I might try that!

I want to invite the cast of This American Life. Which probably makes me a massive nerd. But I LOVE them, and we are doing RSVP postcards with space for a note to the bride and groom, so I’m hoping for a little note back from some of them.

The thought had honestly never crossed my mind, but it is kind of a cool thought 🙂 i may have to consider sending out a few invites now…

I’m just wondering how you track down famous people addresses to do this? With the exception of the President and Mickey Mouse, I don’t think many celebrities post an address around the internet…
If anything, I’ll be inviting my favorite author. I do have an address for her. I’d asked in an email if she’d sign a book for me if I mailed it to her with a return envelope. She said sure. Now I have a signed book and an address. I’m excited.

I have a top secret desire to invite my SO’s two favourite celebrity chefs to our wedding, but I wouldn’t know how to go about doing this. I could try the (absolutely brilliant) tactic that @HonoraryNerd employed since they both have cookbooks, but I don’t know if it would necessarily work with them…
