The title says it all. I’m considering working out, I always feel great after a workout mentally, as well as super toned and I feel good about myself. My only worry is I will somehow manage to give myself acne on the day of (which I have been battling with overactive sebaceous glands for the last six months). Any tips if you did do it? If you didnt, why not?

I don’t know what your day of schedule is, but I can’t imagine being able to fit it in and not feeling smelly and gross afterwards. I mean, you need “dirty” hair to help hold the style, but more like, “showered the night before and slept on it” dirty, not “just ran 10 miles” dirty.

I say go for it. I plan on working out on my wedding day

I haven’t gotten married yet, but I am planning to do some yoga the morning of. I’ll stick to yoga that I know. I’m very comfortable so I think it will help center me but I won’t be able to hurt myself, which I would worry about if I was lifting weights. I don’t really run so that’s not an issue to me. I just would not want to get an injury if (heaven forbid) something should happen! I realize that leading up to the wedding I will be working out and trying to be safe but live my normal life, but I do not want to have to visit the hospital the day of. That would really throw things off.
Also: do you ever get acne the day of when you work out? I think that may answer the question for you.

Excited To Bee: I can’t imagine having the time…
Best of luck though and I will be VERY impressed if you manage to complete a light or normal workout 🙂

Oh my gosh. I did not have the time. I was at the hairdressers at 8am in the morning for my 3pm wedding, and the whole day from 6 am was go, go, go! Plus, I only had an hours sleep.
The gym waited.

Excited To Bee: I hope to get in a workout!

I considered it, as several of my bridesmaids are also my workout partners/runners. However, I didn’t get to bed until late the night before, and had an early day. Hair was showing up at my house at 7:30am for an 8am start – and I wanted to straighten up. That being said, two of my friends are getting married this year and I’m in both their weddings. We’ve talked about doing a morning yoga session or even a run.

Excited To Bee: I work out every day but I didn’t work out on my wedding day for a number of reasons. No time – I had a 5pm ceremony but still had to leave my house by 8am for breakfast before the 9am hair appointments started. Sweat – I couldn’t get my hair sweaty before having it styled and if they hairdresser had to wash it before styling it then it would have been too soft to work with. Most hairdressers prefer you to come in with hair that hasn’t been washed since at least the day before to make it better to work with. Injury – it rarely happens but I wouldn’t want to risk it on that day of all days!

ETA: As for the dirty hair thing – I personally do not feel clean unless I’m freshly showered….even if I just had a shower before going to bed. I showered the morning of my wedding, washed my hair, and then used plenty of mousse in my hair before blow drying. My hair team had no problem dealing with my fine/thin (and clean!!!) hair.

starfish0116: lol, I most definitely showered the morning of my wedding! My hair is just awful and difficult to work with anyway at the best of times, the hairdresser said she would make do if I had to wash it that morning but the night before was preferable.

We planNed on going for a run together the morning of the wedding but it totally didn’t happen! I didn’t sleep well due to nerves so there was no way I was getting up early to physically exert myself haha! it would have been nice though if it worked out.

nawella: I would most likely do hot yoga, as well. I do hot vinyasa 2-3 times a week and LOVE it.
I think I will be able to do it, my ceremony doesnt start until 6 and I only have a MOH, no bridesmaids, although i have two aunts getting ready with me. We are also having a stylist and makeup artist come to our hotel, so if I work out at the hotel, that might work better. I also have reallllly oily hair, like oily by noon the next day if I shower the night before oily, so I HAVE to wash my hair right before they come, I will just blow dry it crazy and add in some products.
I am normally a terrible sleeper though, and when I am excited… Its super ridiculous. So I guess I will just see what happens 😛

I plan on going for a run. Running or working out settles my nerves and makes me feel good. The area we’re getting married in is also gorgeous. The guys will leave the hotel we’re all staying at (also our venue) around 11 to go eat and watch a big game before the wedding and I’m not getting ready (diy) til 1pm or so for our 5pm wedding. I’m an early riser and don’t want to be cooped up in the bridal suite from the crack of dawn til I can get out to the pool to swim and hang out w my girls when the guys leave at 11. So running and walking around seem like great options. I’m washing my hair after swimming (I’m black and have never heard this dirty hair rec for black hair- my hairstylists always insist on newly clean hair).

I work out 7 days a week, run marathons, swim, etc and I did not work out on my wedding day. I would have had time before 8am, but it was really nice to just hang out with my husband in the morning. My main motivation, however, was because of my self-tanner! I am really pale and depend on self-tanner, and if you sweat it often rubs off by your sports bra or feet. If it weren’t for that, I probably would have run a few miles, but I certainly didn’t miss it.
