@MrsEME:  I will be changing to his name.  I am having a little regret about it but mainly because I’ll be 41 by the time we get married and I have had my last name forever!  That and my first and last name start with a J and I like doing my jj initial.  Nothing major though!!!!

@MrsEME:  I keep teling  telling him he is going to take my last name.  I’m to old fashioned, traditional, whatever you want to call it, to NOT take his name.  But damn it’s fun messing with him!

I am! I’m pretty excited about it. I like his last name a lot more than mine, and it’s just really exciting for me. I’ve been practicing signing that name since high school.

I’m really looking forward to changing my name 🙂  But I’ve never felt particularly attached to mine.  I’m very attached to my dad but I don’t feel a link there, my dad is one of my best friends, not because we share blood or a name but because he’s awesome.  Also I have a brother who can carry the responsibility of passing on the name if he wants, but I don’t think anyone in my family cares a bit about that anyway.  And FI is so excited about us sharing names, when we’re supporting each other he likes to chant “Team Hislastname!”  Very cute.

I never considered not changing my name. I definitey understand why people don’t want too but for me it was always just something I knew I would do when I got married.

I’m doing a combination.  He wants me to legally take his last name but he is okay with me using my maiden name at my job since I have built up a good reputation as an attorney using my maiden name.  I think I might hyphenate at work at some point but my maiden name is short, simple and memorable and

We both added my maiden name as our second middle name, and I changed my last name to his.

His mom was part of the hyphenation generation.  I did not want his hyphenated last name because I didn’t want people to assume I was a feminist.  He legally changed his last names to his middle name and his middle name became his last name.  We both took his middle name as our last name.
