I love the first look photos, but I am superstitious about seeing each other before the wedding! So I have no idea what I’ll decide on haha.

hayleyelizabeth:  DH and I were planning on doing a first look, but as soon as my MIL and bridesmaids found out about it they talked us out of it. They told us that DHs reaction to me walking down to him would be the first look. The stupid photographers missed his reaction when I made it clear to them I wanted it. I wish we would have done a first look. I would have loved to have those pictures and the quiet time with him beforehand.

hayleyelizabeth:  I really wish I would have stood my ground and insisted we did it. Dont let anyone try to talk you out of it. There are so many cute first look photo examples on Pinterest and honestly, the reactions of those grooms were priceless.

We did a first look and I can honestly say it was the best part of the entire day. You’re so busy from morning till night and having that 20 minutes of just us time, seeing each other for the first time, was amazing.

I loved that when he saw me, we didn’t need to rush through it like we would if he saw me at the ceremony. Rather than the officiant take over right away and start talking, we were able to both soak up seeing one another for the first time, kiss each other, hug each other, see every detail of what we were wearing, etc. I also like that we saw each other for the first time without other guests looking on, any distractions, etc. I was so emotional the whole time I was walking down to see him with the photographers because it was such an intense moment. Tears in my eyes as he was turning around. Yea… I’m glad that moment was just for us. I can’t wait to see the pics!

hayleyelizabeth:  Nope, not at all! I’m really glad we did it, because we had our moment together at first where we each cried our happy tears, just the two of us. It was probably my favorite moment of the whole day.

I think a first look makes sense logistically, but FI feels really strongly about not seeing me before the ceremony, he doesn’t want to know any details, not even the shoes!  For the most part he’s pertty laid back, this is one of the few things that really matters to me, so I feel like I have to give it to him.  A good photographer will make the timing work to get other shots done.

hayleyelizabeth:  I saw you asked a previous bride about how she felt walking down the aisle; to me, it was just as special. Even if you do a first look, walking down the aisle, in front of the guests, with whoever is escorting you, feeling the nerves, etc. Again, tears in my eyes the whole time and as soon as I locked eyes with my husband was when my nerves went away and I began to smile, not taking my eyes off of him the entire time. I don’t think it could’ve felt any more “special”. A first look can’t take away from being “in the moment” when walking down the aisle. Plus, it was the first time he saw me with the veil over my eyes, which was nice and different, you could say.

hayleyelizabeth:  Oh God, read what I just last wrote! I couldn’t believe I was STILL emotional when walking down the aisle.
