I told my fiancee early on exactly what ring I wanted.  I tried a few different sizes of center stones on with him and we agreed on a size.  He eventually bought that exact ring.  He had no opinion because I guess I never really gave him that option.  I doubt that he would’ve had an opinion if I had asked for it though.

I dont have it yet but after ring shopping….YES

his likes: great finger coverage and clear stone

    his dislikes:

    bezel set

    coloured stones

    yellow/rose gold

    less than 40% finger coverage

    petite bands

    6 prong

    warm clear stones

….the list is practically endless. I had to ask “am I wearing it or you” he replied with “your ering is a reflection of my taste” what a diva lol I found it amusing because I would’ve been happy with a Casio watch loool

@freshflowers:  Yup. I told him my preferences for metal, stone and cut. Then I posted a bunch of rings I liked on pinterest lol. He picked the most unusual/untraditional out of all of them because that’s the kind of guy he is. It took some getting used to for me because it’s big and high profile. I think most people probably don’t think it looks much like an engagement ring. But I love it and he loves it. I often refer to it as “our” engagement ring. LOL

yes ultimately I ended up with a mix of both of our wants and I’m so glad! He is a very traditional, solitaire in white gold/platinum kind of guy. Going into it i was sure i wanted a halo, but after several trips to stores to try things on and listening to his reasonings why he liked solitaires my view of the rings changed. I still wanted a little extra bling though because that’s just my style, so we compromised and I ended up with a yellow gold solitaire with pave on the band. I thought the yellow gold complimented my skin tone better.

My husband wanted a smaller understated look so we worked together on the center stone and ended up with a .5 round. As for the setting, I showed him tons that I liked and we narrowed it down until we found one we both loved.

FI picked out my engagement ring himself, and it definitely reflects his taste. It’s got brushed accents and generally looks rather modern and maybe even masculine. Also he was set on a colored gemstone, so I got a blue sapphire — which I love, so it reflects both of us, really, but his preference for gemstones over diamonds was much, much stronger than mine.

We went ring shopping 1 time, and I found a ring that I fell in love with. He ended up going back to buy it the next day. He says he really likes my ring and thinks it suits me well, so I’m not sure what I would have done if he had other opinions

No. If FI would have picked it I would have ended up with like, a 3 halo super blingy cluster ring. (Which is beautiful to some, I prefer more simple!) It also would have been like a size 8. I’m a 5.5 lol

A little.  Well he knew I liked princess cut diamonds b/c he asked me early on in our relationship.  He mentioned later on when we were picking out my wedding band that he didnt like unique shapes, but liked the squared looking diamonds best ie princess, cushion, radiant but not emerald.  Other than that he picked out the setting and actual diamond himself and I love it, it’s very much my taste and I think his taste too!  I guess we have the same taste lol.

Absolutely.  My fiancé’s taste totally influenced what my e-ring would look like, and I wouldn’t want it any other way!

I never gave him any hints or tips on which ring I want since I completely trust his style, so he picked it out on his own. He has great taste and did an AMAZING job!

I love my ring. It is so classic and elegant.

Tiffany princess cut colorless (grade D) solitaire diamond ring in platinum. Love.

Sort of.  He likes solitaires (and I like them too but I didn’t have strong opinions on it.)

He thinks large or multi-stone rings (like 3 stones, halos or pave) look tacky.  His words, not mine.  Don’t kill the messenger!

My FI’s only opinion was that my ring be exactly what I wanted. So I sent him a link via e-mail and that was that. 😉
