When my dearest proposed, he held me in an embrace – the entire world didn’t exist in that moment and it was beautiful. It was very us. However, I have SO many people ask me “did he get down on one knee?” and look somewhat puzzled when I say no. I understand it’s tradition but I don’t consider us traditional in any real sense – my prince charming rides a motorbike, not a horse!
Did your guy get down on one knee, or did he propose in a different way?

There’s no need for people to react that way! It sounds like you both had a very affectionate and meaningful moment!
Mine did get down on one knee to answer your question though.

Mr. Jag did get down on one knee (it was so cute) but I was so taken aback, all I could do was to tell him to stand up! stand up! haha.
There’s no right or wrong way of doing it – what’s important is that IT’S HAPPENING!

Yep, he sure did! He also asked my Father for my hand first! We are quite traditional.

Nope. FH and I didn’t even do anything special. We were both sitting on the couch watching TV and he looked at me and asked, “So, will you marry me?”
It works. I’m not into romance and neither is he.

We’re not really traditional either but he did get down on one knee (in razor sharp gravel, mind you). He wasn’t down there long but that’s ok. It was perfect. 🙂

@SouthernGirl: So, I’m curious. When he proposed, was there like a proposal moment or was it like passing conversation? Is he shy and wanted to ask in a low key way? Did you say yes and go back to the tv? You have intrigued me. =]
I hope you don’t read that like I don’t think you got a proposal, that’s so not the case at all! I’m just wondering what that was like.
My FH got down on one knee, but I don’t even really remember him getting there. Just all of a sudden, on his knee, ring, marry me, hugs, yadda yadda. It was so like him though because he is kind of a goober, very silly, and when he proposed, my sister was right there, on the computer, like 3 feet from us. HAHAHA. She felt so awkward. =]

We were on a trip, stopped at an overlook and I was in the back of the truck to try to get a great picture. He had climbed up with me. I was so focused on getting a picture that when I turned around he completely caught me off guard. He was on one knee and holding my beautiful ring!
It was perfect in the back of a pick-up. :o)

Mine did, but it was very brief…

We went from hug to down on one knee-a good combination if you ask me. 🙂
That said, a proposal is still just as sweet and romantic even without that action.
