I wasn’t going to let him hear them ahead of time but he was struggling with his and I was feeling insecure about mine, i mean, heck, how do you say everything you mean about a lifetime and a depthless love in 3 sentences or so? lol.  So, anyway, i read him mine and he kind of played off them to write his own.

No way. We both wrote ours within the week before the wedding and they were top secret. I wanted them to be a surprise so that I could capture those emotions on film once I heard them being read and vice versa.

I’m not a crier, neither is my family but everyone was in tears. It was so worth the wait.

Nope, he won’t see/hear them until wedding day!

Like @Treejewel19:, we both wrote our vows the week of the wedding, and they were top secret. (I’m pretty sure he actually wrote his like two hours before, because they were on the hotel’s notepad paper LOL!) I ‘wrote’ mine on my iPhone, and was editing and changing them up until our coordinator motioned that it was time for my step-dad to walk me down the aisle!!

@headoverhighheels:  Yep! Our venue coordinator facilitated our rehearsal, and that’s exactly what we did. Our offciant didn’t rehearse exactly what he would say, either, because we wanted it to feel in the moment, and NOT like it had previously been rehearsed 🙂

We both wrote our own vows and did not hear eachother’s until the ceremony! I’m SO glad we did it that way! It made it so special! The only thing we checked in with eachother about was the length and the basic tone.

I created both of our vows, the bride version and the groom version of the same wording with a few differences. So all he and I have to do is the “repeat after me” type of reading.(the officiant will say a few words and he will repeat, same with mine)

We discussed about the format and then wrote our vows separately, and then compared notes so the vows could join up. (We’re doing vows duet-style so we wanted it to mesh well.)

Ours were top secret.  Our officiant had us email our vows to him on the Wednesday before the wedding so he could review them and make sure they “matched.”  I think it was really helpful having someone read them both and assure us they were along the same vein.

We didn’t want to be in the same situation as that Friends episode where Chandler’s vows are funny while Monica’s are sentimental.
