Did your venue offer to help with extra set up? How much?

My venue has offered to do some small set-up at the hall for us. I'm not planning on having a DOC, mostly because it's out of budget and I have a few family members who have volunteered to take care of setting up the centerpieces and bigger things.

But, the venue did offer to assist with some small set up. They just asked that I give clear instructions - like a mock-up photo - for what I want. So, they'll be happy to set up my escort card table, but if I give poor instructions, they don't want me to be disappointed by how they choose to do it. I'm not too worried, I plan on doing a photo mock-up of the escort card table and the candy buffet (with WELL-LABELED jars).

Anyone else have their venue offer to help with small set up? Like the escort card table, candy buffet, signage, favors or extra place setting items, etc? And if so, how much should I ask them to help with? How much is asking too much of them?

My venue is doing all the set up for no fee (I guess it's just included in the package?) but they won't do anything "complicated" as they put it, like arranging flowers.  I figure our flowers will arrive from the florist in vases and all they have to do is put them on the tables...not quite arranging so that should work!

This is what our venue is doing as well.  We hope that in addition to the general room set up they will also accept our deliveries (cake etc).

I have heard of the idea to make 1 box per table.  In that box include EVERYTHING that needs to go on that 1 table.  So the 8 napkins and their rings, the chargers, the centerpiece, the 5 votives, the table number, and the salt and pepper shakers!

Then just have boxes numbered for each table.  That way you don't have to worry they will forget to put a number on a table or something like that.
