I am trying to find out how much weight brides (on average) lose or gain before their wedding. I keep hearing that a lot of brides do lose weight close to their wedding day. I also hear that the last 4 weeks are very stressful, so I am putting it to a poll to try and see what the average is!
Did you lose or gain in the last 4 weeks before your wedding?
Did this affect your dress alterations?
Did you find the last month very stressful or were you quite relaxed?
Thanks so much!

I am curious about this. I hope more people do this poll.

My wedding is on 4th August and since my final fitting I have lost 7 pounds. It is a bit of a worry

There are not enough options in this poll, and it would be helpful to be able to check more than one option!
I didn’t vote, because I didn’t gain or lose any weight, but that was with significant effort. I weighed myself religiously every morning after my last fitting to make sure my weight didn’t fluctuate at all, because I needed my dress to fit! I was extremely stressed, and was steadily losing weight due to stress in the 6 months before the wedding, but as soon as my fittings started I actively tried to maintain my weight.

I gained 8 pounds week before the wedding! I spent 5 days right before the wedding fasting so that I could fit in my dress. Talk about stressful! It was the studying for finals that did me in, I can’t resist a bag on M&Ms and a Coke while studying for Org Chem at 1am.

I lost about 10 pounds in the month before my wedding which is a lot on my frame. I had to get my dress altered again the week before my wedding even though it had a corset back due to the weight loss.
I was pretty stressed out before the wedding with wedding plans as well as other things going on in my life. I also cut out all alcohol for about 5 weeks before the big day and lost most of the weight in my waist. I had also been actively trying to lose weight for months and didn’t really lose any pounds until a month before the wedding.

So, I would say that the last 6 months prior to our wedding, I lost a total of 10 pounds. I was only 5’1 and 115 pounds at the time, so I was down to 105. I was incredibly stressed out the last 4 weeks with not only the wedding, but work as well. I often forgot to eat lunch and just kept on going. Absolutely not healthy in the least.
My dress was a little big for the wedding, but my seamstress did a really great job in fitting it the way I wanted it just before.

I am at five weeks to go, and I have noticed weight loss over the past 3 weeks (about 7 pounds). I know myself and anticipated this happening because when I stress I shed weight. I am very happy I had the designer put a corsetted back in as they were making my dress!

I…think?…I lost weight. I wouldn’t count on weight loss though if you want it. It largely depends on if you are a stress eater or not. It did not affect my fitting.

I’m right in the middle of the 2-4 weeks before the wedding. I had my final dress fitting a week ago, and I’m praying that I don’t gain weight. I am definitely a stress eater, but I’m going about my normal food routine to make sure my weight stays constant. I will let you know in a few weeks rather I gained or lost weight.

I had lost weight, but I eat and gain weight when I stress. I gained about 5lbs the week before the wedding!
