I have been growing my natural nails (quite an achievement for me) with the hopes of having gel polish put on them right before the wedding, but I unfortunetly broke two nails on my right hand. They’re catching up in length, but are still a bit shorter. This probably seems really silly, but I don’t want the salon to cut down my long nails to match the short ones because I’ve put so much effort into growing them this long and strong. Do you think so long as the length difference isn’t too extreme, I can get away with having a few shorter nails on one hand? I’m planning on giong with a nude polish color for the wedding. And will the nail technition think I’m crazy for asking her to not cut down my longer nails? Lol I know I’m thinking about this way harder than I should be, but it has been bugging me. Thanks bees!

I have always done this. As long as the difference isn’t really dramatic, I think it’s fine. In fact, when I’ve done French manicures, I’ve even been able to cheat to make the short ones look longer by starting the white tips below where they technically should start.

You can just have the salon apply tips to those nails to make them the same length as the other.

Can you get gel before your wedding mani so that they can all grow and have the reinforcement?

This happened to me! I was growing my nails out for the proposal, and both my thumbnails broke! The nail tech put tips on my thumbs and carried on with the manicure. They looked perfect! And no, they won’t think the request is crazy at all.

Thanks all! I’ll ask about tips when I go! I can’t really use gel to grow before the wedding because the wedding is in 8 days 🙂

I always keep the length I have on my nails. My nails are super thin and break often, so I’m proud of the length I can. The difference is never too far off, either.

This always happens to me, I think you’ll be fine. In the meantime try to keep polish on them now just for an extra layer of protection until the wedding!

Just have tips put on the short nails? I do that for myself if I break a nail, I would never lop off all my other ones because of one short nail!
You could get a silk wrap tip if they offer that, it’s more sturdy than a traditional tip.

If the difference isn’t that much then I would either use a tip or if they can do it get the nail place to fill in the difference with gel.

I never bother chopping off the rest to match the short ones (unless it’s an extreme difference) because mine are are crap and break all the time…
