Is it just me, or are many of us having difficulties getting the male half of the bridal party organized? I’m getting pretty stressed out about this and all I can do is remind myself to breathe!! Please tell me I am not alone.
We are 43 days away from the wedding and the guys don’t have their suits yet (we fly out to Mexico in 40 days). For me this is just nuts, but the guys keep assuring me not to worry. I just can’t forsee this procrastination turning out well. Have any of you experienced last minute suit purchases/rentals?
None of them have even tried on a suit yet. What are the average times that it takes to get a suit in? I have one picked out for them from a store that they can buy off the rack if all else fails, but I really don’t wantt o spring a $400 bill on the GMs each. Any advice? What have your experiences been with suits?

Yeah we had to contact the groomsmen non stop. It was ridiculous. They didnt buy their ties until last minute. I kept sending them the link to the tie that they were supposed to order whenever it was on sale. It was like 50% off and I figured they would want to buy it when it was cheap! It was ridiculous!!

Oh yeah! I know I’m going to have to twist FI’s arm to get anything going with the tuxedos. It’s just the name of the game. Men are lazy! LOL Well they don’t care about weddings, that’s for sure. You are not alone.
Aren’t you the bee that had some issues with groomsmen bringing their GF’s to your desination wedding? How did you decide to handle that?

My BIL took a very long time to get everything. It stressed my husband and I out. But since he took so long, everything had gone on sale. He ended up getting his pants for only $7…. so I guess he got lucky.

@missmichigan: Yes that was me, but these girls aren’t even their girlfriends. Haha thanks for remembering my woes! I pretty much pulled the bridezilla and cut them off from getting any information. I didn’t loose my cool or act like a snob, but I did go crying to my FBIL and one of the other groomsmen. They put out the word that this would make me very upset and as far as I know the girls have halted their planning. Hopefully it stays this way…
These boys are slowly making me insane! We’re on the final leg here so let’s hope I can keep it together and light a fire under their butts!

Oh yeah. As of right now only one of the guys has a suit, and it’s only because my groom gave it to him and bought a new one for himself!

I am in agreement. What is it with men and waiting til the last minute on things. Fi’s groomsmen have not got fitted for their tux’s yet. Only men who have is FI and thats because I made him go and both our father’s. Grrrr..

So for you ladies who are having similar problems, how many weeks away from the big day are you?

Hm, I haven’t even given my male attendants a second thought. Maybe I should be. I figure, guys clothing can be picked out/picked up within a matter of days. Scary I know… but I just keep telling myself that so I can make my fiance deal with it. I already had so much stress with my BMs so I figure, it’s his turn to “stress” out. I think we’re going together in a few weeks to pick everything out. From there, hopefully our guys are responsible enough to get the items in time. 🙂

I’m with you – our groomsmen haven’t done anything about suits, and FI just ordered tux I think it was last week. We’re having a meeting/shower in a week or so, we’re going to corner them then. FI and I ended up buying ties, since it was easier that way than trying to get groomsmen to pay attention. The saving grace is that it doesn’t take long to either order (rent) or buy a man’s suit and have it fitted. I think it could be done in a few days/week if it has to…

Good luck with getting them moving. I’m about 74 days out from the wedding and my groom has yet to find a suit himself let alone the groomsmen. He keeps saying it’s not going to take long to do, so why do I need to do it so early. Ugg guys, they don’t seem to understand that things can sometimes take time….

@karenski: Wow I didn’t know it was that quick, so I sure hope you are right! We have 5 1/2 weeks before we fly out and I’ve just sent out a mass email so lets hope they all get on board and fast!

@mrs.peters.to.be: So have they decided yet?
I feel your pain, I’m in a similar boat but it is my FI that is driving me nuts. We’ve been looking at tuxedos & suits for 11 months now and with 8 weeks till we leave for our DW, we still haven’t ordered a tux / bought a suit for any of them! I’m stressed to the max about it and ready to shoot my FI.
2 months ago after spending 9 months finding a suitable vest / tie special enough for him he came out of left field and decided he wanted a suit instead. This is after going off on me about “how it is his day too and he deserved a tuxedo” when I suggested maybe suits would be easier with a destination wedding. Ugh. He then spent a weekend with his groomsman suit shopping (10 hrs in total) and found NOTHING they liked. So then he was thinking about ordering custom suits online for himself and the groomsmen. Went as far to order fabric swatches. Then realized he procrastinated so late, he couldn’t do the custom ones. *sigh*
The worst part was my brother, not a groomsman, but was walking me down the aisle, was going to match them. He is a big guy who works constantly and it was like pulling teeth to get him measured for his tux originally. He is in another city so my mom had to arrange it all. Then my mom had to tackle him to get measurements for the custom suit. And now my poor mom, armed with dozens of measurements, is now off on a search for a suit for him since the rental place, this late in the game, doesn’t have a tuxedo that will fit him for that date. *sigh* He’ll be happier in a suit, but it is so frustrating.
I *think* my FI has now decided on tuxedos, but don’t quote me on that.
This whole thing has taken longer than finding my dress and both bridesmaid dresses!
