okay… my very favorite is Mickey’s Dining Car because pancakes. I love pancakes. They may be my favorite food. And this places has amazing pancakes.

My second favorite has already been on that show.

Matt’s Bar… home of the original Jucy Lucy (not a typo).

And, while not my favorite, I also live two blocks away from The Dari-ette (which has also been on that show).

There are actually two places in my little area of Los Angeles that were shown on DDD.  The Oinkster which is within walking distance of me and we go there often.  Delicious burgers and pulled pork sandwhiches.  ::drool::  Everything is made in house.    This is definitely my favorite place.

Their yummy pulled pork sandwich

And the second place is called Polka Polish Restaurant which is about 2 miles away from us.  They have delicious Polish food.  We wanted to go there once and were basically told to leave since we didn’t have reservations.  That was really dumb since their website did not state reservations were required or even suggested.  I was so pissed and will never try to go back! But their food does look delicious.

There are so many other places that were shown from Los Angeles, but I’m only mentioning the two that are within my area.  Now I want to go to the Oinkster for dinner! lol

@Dixonswife:  Matt’s Bar? Yeah, their famous dish is the Jucy Lucy… a burger with the cheese inside. Their claim to fame is being the first to do that.

Here is their menu

The Friendly Toast, in downtown Portsmouth, was on Man vs. Food, apparently.

So was Gilly’s:

@Dixonswife:  Oh, Five Guys is gross, though.  They don’t cook their burgers to order, and it’s so greasy in there that the floor is slippery.  People love them, though.  I like burgers that are cooked to order, the way I want them, on decent bread, you know?  So I am used to paying for that, I guess!

I went to Bryn Mawr College.  =)

Also, you should tell your husband to check out Bobby’s Burger Palace in University City.  It is the BEST.  I think you can get a burger (cooked to order) and fries for about $10.  It’s owned/operated by Bobby Flay.  They also have turkey burgers if it’s the beef that you don’t like!

Not sure this is a Diner Drive In or Dive but most of the time of Louisville is on a food show this place is thrown into the mix. Lynn’s Paradise Cafe. They are known for having all kinds of quirky decor and a little gift shop.

@Dixonswife:  I work in University City and if you’re going to venture that way you should try Han Dynasty (they’re also in Old City) and Chewy’s food truck. I’ve only had their veggie burgers, but they’re the best ever!

As far as “gross” places with awesome food… Dim Sum Garden in Chinatown is beyond amazing!

Guy is not really very nice at all, and he’s kind of hated here in his home county/city. Johnny Garlic’s isn’t my favorite by any means, but all in all…..

Worth Our Weight is somewhere I’ve been dying to try. It has a great concept…. you pay what you think it’s worth, and the goal is to give opportunity to troubled youth. They train in a culinary program and so on.

They are only open when I am working though. =(

Here in Cleveland we have a chain of grilled cheese restaurants (Melt) that is somewhat famous. It’s where the BBC did a broadcast of election coverage 🙂

Cleveland also has a lot of polish food. Lots of Eastern Europeans here.
