    Hi Bees,

I think my brain has finally shut down. I just can't make any more decisions.

So your help please...we are offering a choice of three entrees at dinner. A steak, a chicken and a fish. I can't decide between the swordfish and the salmon.

    Which is more universally liked?

Thanks for your help - as always!!

I would say that salmon is more universal, but I love both. I know a lot of people that don't "eat fish", but they will eat salmon. :) HTH.

I would also vote salmon, esp if it's wild. I personally love swordfish more 'cuz salmon is more available to me as an option than swordfish. However, swordfish has higher levels of mercury so I try to stay away from it. See here. Just a side suggestion, in case you have a guest that's vegetarian, you may wanna make sure that a vegetarian option is available to him/her too.

I don't care for fish but I'll eat salmon. The folks I do know who eat seafood enjoy it and they don't care for swordfish at all.

I agree with Pren that alot of vegetarians don't consider fish to be on their list of acceptable foods because it was alive at some point. Even alot of meat-eaters say that fish is a vegetable. Go figure that one.

I agree that more people are likely to like salmon than swordfish.  Although I like both ;o)

Salmon all the way. I am not a seafood fan but am OK with Salmon. I believe that is more universally liked though too and maybe it is because it is more available.

I don't like either, but salmon would work better, especially if you have picky eaters.

I say salmon too... I'm not a "seafood" person but I like salmon. That, and I've heard plenty of food-poisioning stories related to swordfish but none about salmon.

I am one of the few people out there who doesn't like salmon!  But I also would probably go for the beef option myself Smile.

I know that people love salmon, so go for it!

Like everyone else, salmon is pretty ubiquitous. You can't go wrong with the safe choice. But I would go with swordfish. It's delicious, and your guests will certainly remember it!

I love swordfish and that's what I would want but I agree with the other posters that salmon is a more universally accepted fish choice.

Salmon - it's the safe choice. swordfish can be a bit dry at times.

Swordfish is apparently really bad for you ... and it just so happens to be my favorite especially when blackened with lemon. I think if it's really extremely fresh ... which is the only way I'll eat fish, you cannot make a mistake.

Swordfish is more mild than salmon. Most people don't like salmon b/c it's so ... fishy.

Salmon is clearly the winner here! Thanks so much for all your help. If anyone would like to do my weekend invitations, OOT boxes, church program, seating chart and bathroom baskets please come on by :)

and for the person who mentioned the vegetarian dish - this is a silent option that will be available should anyone request it.
