I’m curious about this too. I might be selling the gown after the wedding and most of the worn gowns on Preowned, etc claim they’re clean.

My wedding isn’t until June and I’m curious to hear about other brides about this issue too. However, my sister had her wedding last year and by the end of the night she had flipflops on (because her other heels were too painful after a few hours :p) and all the lower edge of her dress was very dirty. My mom washed it (I’m not sure how O_O) but she got all the dirt out 😀 So, I think it’s doable.

My dress got really dirty!  When it was dropped off at the cleaners they werent sure it would come clean, but when they spoke to the person doing the cleaning and has experience with bridal gowns he said it shouldnt be a problem.  It came all out!

I don’t have any experience with wearing the dress yet but I have bought two different pre-owned ones. Both had no trains and were previously cleaned. They both have no marks on the outside but there are dirt marks underneath the dress. I know that one was worn on a beach pier and I’m not sure of the other. One is chiffon and the other is taffetta. So I think that most likely your dress will get dirty. How dirty depends on where your wedding is and what fabric it is. I wouldn’t worry about it, though. If you want to sell it there will most likely be a bride who doesn’t care about underneath the dress (like me). I have heard that dirt is much easier to get out than other things – sweat stains, wine etc… so that’s good news. I’m sure we’ll all be beautiful brides no matter what. No one will notice the little things like we do!

@Soon to be Mrs M: Yup, you guessed right. She had her dress hemmed for her heels, which she wore only for the ceremony and a small portion of the reception. The rest of the time, she basically dragged her pretty dress :p It was very dirty by the end of the night, that’s why I’m sure it’s possible to clean a dress, my mom pulled it off.

Oh, just so you know her wedding was indoors. I’m not sure how it would have been if it was outdoors.
