I would love some opinions!
I found an amazing ring that perfectly matches my unique E-ring. I instantly fell in love! Problem is, it’s Platinum. My E-ring is 18K and the jeweler offered to custom duplicate the Platinum ring in 14K to fit my budget. She even offered to re-coat my E-ring with Rhodium so they match in tone.
I go to pick it up and to me, it looks signifigantly different than the Platinum one I fell in love with. The overall design is the same, but tiny details are different and I just cant get over it! One part of the setting isnt curved like the Platinum one which really flowed and matched with my E-ring. Also, the band width is slightly thinner and shorter in height, which makes it look unproportioned to my E-ring. I pointed out these issues and she explained that since it was custom, they came as close as possible to duplicating and said I only have one option. Buy the platinum one instead. She came down on price, but would still leave me with $600 to pay off! We have been engaged for 2 years now and finally decided to go to the courthouse and tie the knot this summer since we just dont have the money for a wedding. Let alone another $600 in payments which we probably wouldnt be able to pay off until Fall! The jewelry store only does layaway, so I wouldnt have the ring until it is fully payed. Ugh.
She said to give it 7days. To wear them together and decide if it really bothers me or not. I have been wearing is less than an hour and I just dont like it! I want that other one that matched so well!
What would you do? Just deal with it? Or take on crazy monthly payments for the one I fell in love with?
If I pick the Platinum one, I wouldnt have a wedding band by the time we marry or we would push back the courthouse wedding until we have the ring. We dont have a date set, just when the time is right. The ring I had custom made was $1270, and we’re talking $600 more bucks! geez i hate how i have expensive taste and I hate how much of a perfectionist I am! lol
thank you in advance
