Was anyone else really disappointed in their wedding video? For one his song choices were awful (disco and save a horse ride a cowboy) and some footage was reused. He didnt edit anything. You can hear me saying my boob is falling out. Like really he could have cut that out. I could get over all of that but we only heard and first and last sentence of my grooms speech 🙁 All the other speeches were there in full. i am sad ill never get to hear it again because I remember it being so sweet. There was also no footage from our first dance. Overall it’s pretty bad quality especially the sound. I am happy we at least have something (considering the video was 10 weeks late) but overall I am just sad. I am preying our photos turn out

That is really a bummer! Can you chat with him about changing the songs? Editing the film more?
Perhaps if you have a type of style that you like you can suggest this.

🙁 i am sorry you are disappointed. that sucks…. i know.
did you get to see sample of the videographers work before you hired them? if it is not in line with their usual work, i would think you’d have grounds to be upset for sure… and perhaps have a reason to get the unedited footage from them to have someone else edit for you?

Can you ask for a copy of all the raw footage (no edits, no music, etc)? You could then shop around for someone else to do an edit the way you want. It may not fix all the quality issues, but at least you’d have better music. You could do it as a gift to yourself on your first anniversary! 🙂

Sorry fellow bee, that sucks major butt.
Keeping my fingers crossed on your photos!

@NC Girl: +1. What you really want is the raw footage. Then poor editing can be fixed.

- Wedding: January 2013 - Harbourfront Grand Hall
FI’s best friend got married in July, they got theirs back recently and were also disappointed. Such a bummer, I know they’re not cheap!

I wasn’t crazy about mine. I wrote an honest review about him. He emailed me minutes later, very defensive, and wanting to fix a few things I did not like. He wants me to edit his review, obviously, when I watch it again.
So be 100% honest with him. Tell him EVERY single thing you did not like, and hope he offers to fix it.

Yeah, definitely get the raw footage! You can always re-edit it. I don’t know what kind of footage he got, but at the very least you could pick songs that you like. Sorry to hear about this. :[

Thanks everyone! I have emailed h but he has not responded. I feel like he probably won’t since we had a hard time contacting him the entire time.

He said he will give us raw footage for 125$ but he missed our first dance and had technically difficulties during my hubby’s speech. I don’t know if its worth it … Sigh.. We already spent alot. Thoughts anyone?

My thought would be that I would not pay him another dime. He needs to be going out of his way to try and make sure you are a satisfied customer.

Raw footage for $125? He should hand that over for nothing. It isn’t going to cost him anything anyway. After 10 years or so all videos look dated and need re doing and you may want to change the music then. Tell him you will see him in court and get that raw footage, it’s yours! This is very important for everyone if they like their video or not. In 10 years you won’t care if he missed your first dance. It will be seeing your grandparents, Dad, Mom and others at such a special time in your life.

I have checked around about the raw footage and the 125 dollars may not be so bad. I don’t know what is written in your contract? I guess try to work with him and maybe he will give it to you for less. I suppose he will have some work in loading the files and cost of discs or thumbdrives. Some videographers have to edit their raw footage because they have made unprofessional remarks that were caught on audio and must go through hours of video trying to find them. They have cieling/floor shots (who cares?) Anyway, one way or another I mayself would get all the footage that was shot. good luck
