I have just over a month till my wedding and I’m so confused! I went for my first ever hair trial yesterday and feel disappointed. I had originally envisioned a soft and feminine down style (loose curls or waves) with a flower crown (to add something a little different to my bridal outfit). Well, now I’m not so sure… The stylist gave me what I’d describe as ringlets and I hate them! I can’t help but feel that they make me look like a 5 year old. I headed over to my parents once my trial was over and they agreed that it just wasn’t a bridal look, I quickly shoved my hair up in a loose bun and much preferred it (the curls actually looked good when my hair was up).
When I first tried on my wedding dress the assistant stuck my hair up in a clip with a long veil and I felt amazing and so bridal, but I’d always assumed that my hair would be down for my wedding day so I decided to buy a flower crown for a hippy romantic look. Now I’m not sure whether to scrap the flower crown completely and go for an up do with just the veil. Besides, I’m not sure whether the crown plus veil will be to much.
My hair quickly shoved up to get an idea, a hairdresser would do a much better job! Please bear in mind I don’t photograph well :/
Here’s my dress for reference: I’ll be wearing a long veil:

I like your hair in the low loose pony tail. Looks romantic and pretty!

I definitely prefer it pinned back and I would lose the crown. Its pretty but I think with your hair pinned back and a veil that it will be too much.

I would drop the flower crown all together. I think the hairstyle in the picture of your dress would work perfectly.

I think it looks great pulled back! It would also really look great pulled back with that dress. If you like the idea of flowers, maybe just pin one in your hair towards the back. I definitely prefer it pulled back to down, but do whatever is going to make you feel fantastic on your wedding day!

I’d wear your hair pulled back and without the crown. Maybe you can use one of the flowers from the crown if you really want that element?

Thank you so much for all your responses so far ladies! Do you think I should book another trial with this hairdresser (to test my hair up) or just tell her to curl like before and pin up on the day? The trial was pretty expensive but I’m not sure whether to get a trial done first anyway.

I agree with PP – hair up with veil, no flower crown. I defintely think you should schedule another hair trial if you can!

I would call and tell her that you weren’t a fan of the first trial and ask if you can have a second for free.
Also a few notes about the ringlet effect: maybe you could ask her to use curling irons of different barrel sizes — that will make the curls look less uniform and more natural. Also, ask her to curl the pieces around your face back instead of forward (wrapping the hair away from your face on the curling iron instead of towards your face, if that makes sense). I think that would make it look more grown up.

Firstly I would loose the flower crown
Secondly did you take a picture of how you wanted your hair, ie the type of curls? If you did and she stuffed it, find a new hairdresser. If you didn’t i would go back with a couple of inspiration pics and have another trial.

Simple up-do with a veil would be perfect!
(I would call the hairdresser and ask for another trial…)

I like the loose/curly side ponytail idea. Picture 3 does look more bridal to me. I would talk to the stylist and see if she’s willing to do a quick re-try on the hair. You don’t know what she’ll say until you ask.
As far as the flowers, I think you could use a few of the flowers from the crown you have and ask the hairstylist tuck them into your hair. That way it won’t be overwhelming with flowers and a veil.
PS-I think you photograph just fine. 🙂

First of all, you are absolutely beautiful and you will be a gorgeous bride!
I agree with PP, get rid of the flower crown. Looks cartoony/kids dress-up-y.
Another hair trial with loose curls, veil, +/- low ponytail.
No problem. You CANNOT look bad if you keep it simple.

Ditch the crown. I think your hair would look good up or down, but down would require looser curls like you originally wanted. Either way it will look great!

Your hair is so pretty in curls, maybe prettier in looser curls more of a wave. Maybe find a smaller crown with smaller flowers, so less dramatic. But I think th loose curls would be perfect with that dress!
