I’m hoping someone has an idea for me. After many, many hours of dress shopping (both online and in person) I found the perfect dress – Mori Lee 3076. Went into a bridal store 4 weeks ago and they said they could order it, no problem. Fast forward 2 weeks and when I get to the store to place the order (they’re an authorized retailer) they say the dress was discontinued within 2 weeks of when I got to the store. I’ve called all the authorized online retailers and no one has anything in stock. Aaaaagh! So now I’m either back to the drawing board, or I gamble on getting a dress made in China. Have gotten a reasonable quote from Duosheng, but nervous because the dress has lots of pleating and ruching, but no beading. I’m in love with this dress and would love to find it somewhere, either here or overseas. Any ideas?

@counselorme1969: where abouts do you live?

Have you checked the usual websites for samples? And there are at least two wonderful ladies on here that have possible sources.

@counselorme1969: What size do you need? Perhaps we can find one for you? Maybe someone has a new-but never worn one, or a barely worn one

Can you post a picture ? And where are you located because I know a place that custom makes gowns here locally in surrey.

Creativeplannertobee has a great idea. Check out preownedweddingdresses.com. Most of them are preworn dresses, but sometimes new ones are posted as well.

Responding to some of your questions:
I’m located in the Washington DC area.
I need a size 24 or 26.
I’ve checked the preowned dress sites – no luck yet, but thank you for the suggestion.
I would LOVE to find a sample – the design is a few years old, and I have no idea how to go about sending a blast to all the Mori Lee authorized dealers. I’m not terribly hopeful that anyone has one. There was one listed on ebay, but it was white, and I’m looking for ivory.
Thanks all – your ideas are most appreciated!

I found a solution – http://www.thefabulousu.com. I was able to send them photos of the dress (which I didn’t feel bad about asking them to make because it was discontinued, so it’s not as though I’m having them create a “counterfeit” gown) and got a gorgeous gown for just under $400. I ordered it at the beginning of April and had it by the 3rd week in June. They sent pictures after the first “draft” was completed and then I sent requests for revisions – all minor. I’ve since had it at the seamstress and she says it’s a very good quality dress – substantial fabric, and slightly different from the original so it’s completely unique. Between the dress and alterations (which were minor – taking it in a bit on the top, hems, bustle) I’ve spent just over $650 for the whole thing. I did my research – gowns with extensive beading and specific types of lace are more difficult to have them make (matching the materials can be tricky) but they did a beautiful job with all the pleating and draping. Both I and the seamstress can recommend their work.
