I think that would be pretty fun! I've been trying to think of something that's fun but not your usual "first dance" song, and it's tough! We're both musicians, so we're kind of picky, too, but your idea sounds great! I think I'll mention it to my FI!

yeah i'm really dreading doing a first dance - i hate people watching us in such a special moment.. but the Disney idea seemed cute! Do you think people would think its weird or odd? I was thinking of the one from Sleeping Beauty (I know you I walked with you once upon a dream..)?
I vote for the Waltz in sleeping beauty by Tchaikovsky :) I LOOOVE it. I totally wanted it at my wedding, but it didn't really fit anywhere lol So instead it's on the menu screen of the dvd my husband put together.
I think it's a really cute idea especially if it suits your personalities, then go for it!!!! Those are things people remember at weddings.

Our "song" is actually Eidelweiss from Sound of Music because it is where he proposed to me (at the premiere he took me to), but I don't think it can work as a first dance..
I always thought it would be cute if a couple did a first dance to "You've Got a Griend in Me" from Toy Story.
UMMM definitely do sleeping beauty-- "Once upon a dream" We totally considered it but went in another direction... FAVORITE DISNEY MOVIE EVER!!!
I like "Something There" or whatever it is called from Beauty and the Beast. The scene where Belle realizes the Beast isn't all that bad and they are having a snowball fight in the courtyard.
One of my friends danced to a Disney song as her first dance. I think its a great idea, they are such sweet songs!
'So this is love' from Cinderella is also a great one. I am a huge Disney person complete with Disney tattoo and a disney proposal, so I get it
I love the song the title song from Beauty and the Beast but can understand how FI wouldn't want to be compared to the beast lol.
LOVE THAT SONG!!! "I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream..." Great idea. I would really recommend taking a couple of waltz classes as well. How fun!
It's definitely not strange at all. It's also a definite plus that you would have so many songs to choose from. 'Kiss the Girl', 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight', 'A Whole New World' and it goes on.
My husband and I danced to a Japanese pop song and the father/daughter dance was 'Nobody Else But You' from A Goofy Movie; you can without a doubt have a Disney song as your first dance.
"Little Wonders" from Meet the Robinsons was the song I picked for hubs and his mom's Mother/Son dance =)

We aren't 100% settled on it, but there's a good chance we're going to go with this cover of "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" (although I may speed it up by about 5% so it's a better dance tempo). It's pretty and dreamy without being too hokey. I played it for FI, who has never heard the original, and he thought it was very nice.

What about one of the piano versions from the Jim Brickman CD? they are beautiful!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Disney and would've loved to have "Beauty and the Beast" as our first dance song...but, my hubby didn't like the "beast" connotation. lol
I'm walking down the aisle to a Disney tune, so why not have a first dance to one? :)
We're not using it as our first dance but I'm VERRRY seriously considering Tchaikovsky's Waltz from Sleeping Beauty ("Once Upon a Dream") for our recessional because 1) Sleeping Beauty was my FAVORITE as a kid (actually still if I'll admit it), 2) I'm wearing a blush pink wedding gown (i.e. Aurora in closing scene.... totally didn't pick it because of Aurora though... Aurora came as an afterthought), and 3) I even named my business after Aurora haha so it's going in there somewhere... prelude, processional, recessional something.... P.S. We are having a string trio at the wedding though for the ceremony so it's totally fitting for that reason too.
Our first dance was "Tale as Old as Time," the Beauty and the Beast song. Our DJ edited it so that the words Beauty and the Beast were replaced by instruments, as my husband didn't like that he would be the beast! Our last slow song was "A Dream is a Wish," from Cinderella.
We love Disney.
Once Upon a Dream would be AWESOME! Also that song from "Enchanted" i think it's called "So Close" that they dance to at the ball near the end. I know it's kind of more of a bitter sweet song but I looooooove it!
I think it sounds incredibly romantic. They are all so classic!
My FI and I are thinking about doing Beauty and the Beast song for our first dance.
Maybe you can make it more interesting by having a live band play it? :) That is what I'm thinking about stringing together since it might sound a bit better played by a live band/orchestra. But even if it isn't, I still think it will be so romantic and sweet.

Disney first dance songs are such an awesome idea. I have always wanted to dance to "Tale as old as time". I just listened to it and I cried like a baby. Yes, I know...ever since I got engaged I have been over emotional. I liked @Ms. Gremmlin: idea of editting it to replace the beauty and the beast words since I don't want to imply my FI is a beast :)
It's not Disney, but "At the Beginning" from Anastasia is deliciously cheesy and would be an excellent first dance song (you could even do some awesome choreography to it, if you're into that sort of thing).

Ok, so FH and I don't really have a "song".. but we were joking around the other day and thought it would be cute to do a Disney song as our first dance! What do you guys think of this idea and do you have any suggestions?
