After seeing the high price tag on some of the really nice porcelian 3-tier servers, FI and I have decided to make our own; thirteen of them to be exact! We will use candles as a separator for a few of them, but the majority of them will have the metal fittings that will require us to drill holes in the dishes. Most of them are different because we really wanted them to have their own look. During our reception, we will have a drawing and give them to our guest as gifts. Here are two of them that will have the candles as separators. They’re not glued down; yet. I just wanted to see how they will look.
Sidenote: We purchased all of the dishes for this DIY project from the thrift store for less than $45.00, six candles for $8.00. The metal fittings will cost us about $35.00, two (2) knobs from HomeDepot for $11.00; total project will cost less than $100.00. That’s less than the price of two of the 3-tier servers we were drooling over.
