I took the pictures for my friend! And helped her dress, did her hair, and did her makeup :) They actually turned out really good and her SO loved it!
I had my roommate take these pics for me and my FI loved them! Please not I'm a size 14 so just about anyone can look great in these type of pics. (Obviously, I'm not shy, since Im posting mine on here, but they are all done tastefully and there is nothing to be embarrassed about.) 
hmmm to be honest, the ones i've seen that are DIY have looked.....not so good (to put it mildly). they often look like those myspace pictures THOSE girls post.
A professional can use proper lighting, editing, positioning to take a picture from just girl in lingerie to art.
Ooo I might do this! My photographer is my BIL and he DEFINITELY isn't doing anything like this (awkward much?) I called around my town and no one even knew what I was talking about.
Maybe I will just dress up and have the FI take his own pictures. I'm good at Photoshop and can make them look artistic. Plus it might be fun. :-)

I LOVE the thought of doing boudoir pics for my FH but the thought of someone taking pics like that of me scares me to death! I am very conservative (which is why I think it would be super amazing to give a gift like this to my fiance, he'd be SO surprised!) and honestly I don't think any amount of "oh it's not that bad" will help. So I'm toying with the idea of doing it myself. I have a very good camera (with a tripod and self timer) and could easily find a local to do it. But I'm nervous that this could just be a total waste of time. Anyone else done this themselves??
