anyone have any tips on best type of flowers to use?
I have done a couple but I am not thrilled, family thinks they are nice but they look more like arrangements then bouquets to me.
I keep getting random flowers but some prove to be quite difficult to use in practice, the ones that are bunches aren’t even heights. that or they are too soft.
Bleh I’ll post my trials but please be nice.

I think only the second one may look a little like an arrangement–they are all beautiful! Great Job!
i especially love the first bouquet and first bout.

@crisaquarius24: The first bouquet & bout look the best. Very impressive 🙂

I think your flowers don’t go together because there is too much going on- different colours, different textures, and different heights. Have the flowers more consistent- maybe a bunch of different flowers, but all in the same colour family. Then, if you still want hypericum berries, then add very very few, and in colour that isn’t the opposite of the rest of your colours.
Here’s a pic of my DIY bouquet for reference (dear Lord that pic is ridiculously huge; sorry!):

@crisaquarius24: honestly, I think they all look great! I work with my own flowers a lot, and know how hard it can be! Your bout is especially impressive. I think you should feel really great about your work! Everything looks like a bouquet unless somebody’s holding it! that’s the point, right!?

@crisaquarius24: I think theses look amazing. I love roses and hydrangeas in bouquets but thats a personal preference what colors do you like and whats your theme?

I like the first one, but I would trim out some of the hypericum berries so that there are fewer in each cluster. Keep in mind, you don’t have to keep the stems on all of your flowers if you end up with a bulky handle. Look up how to wire flower stems–that’s especially helpful if your bouquet ends up really wide.

Thanks, ironically I like my first one the least. I do agree though that I am maybe using too many different types, I probably will stick with only two… And a filler…
I can see your point about the hypericum and realized it later on.
I don’t really know whats our theme but our colors are blues, specifically dark blue, cobalt teal and ivory…. for now blues aren’t really in season around here but should be coming up more around spring..
My overall concern is the tightness of them, the pro ones all seem very tight or tight looking rather and I am not sure how to achieve this without crushing the flowers..
Thanks all .

I did roses. I read something about crossing the stems, not gathering them together straight, to prevent them breaking.

Watch some youtube videos about how to do flower arrangements. It’s pretty easy, actually. Good luck!
