Yay
I just got back from lunch and what a treat to find this post, thank you princesskittyHI !! Its sounds so unique! I think I might want to try making one
If no other requests for the instructions, and only if you have time of course, I'd love a tutorial; you can reach me at chaegan@hotmail.com
Hey Maegan -- I just emailed you, but I realized that I forgot to put a subject title! (It'll say it's from empressd)
Hi PrincesskittyHI ~ WOW! Thank you for all the text & instruction, I realize that took a lot of your time. I appreciate it, and the photo you included is so pretty. You are talented! I will let you know how it goes if I make one
although I highly doubt mine would compare to the beauty of yours.

Maegan asked if I'd share pictures of the cake net I DIY'd for our outdoor wedding. I don't have a public site, so I can't post any pix of our real cake and net here, but I scrounged the net and found some that give an idea.
Bascially, I made a little bamboo/tulle bed canopy for the cake to protect it from bugs and falling leaves, etc.
If enough people are actually interested in how I made it, I'll put up instructions. (I started, but it got kind of long...)
This first pic gives an overall feel for the material, bamboo and white tulle. I accented by sewing silk orchids to the four top corners and also scattered them randomly across the tulle (sewed down with fishing line). (Image from alohacottages.com)
This next pic gives a better idea for the actual drapey look of the canopy, since you can see more of the bed. Rather than have the tulle tied to the posts, it was "let down" so they hung to cover the sides. (Image from super8austin.com; pretty swanky for a motel, no?)
This last one is totally off on color and style, but you can see how the top piece is separate from the side panels. I did it that way so the top could have little swags like the pic, and so the side panels could be gathered at the top, to enhance the drapey look. Again, this shows the panels tied to the posts.
