How thrifty!!! I can imagine a bunch of pies on them, it is going to look fantastic. This is very creative.
I love those! I'm not normally a DIY person, but those are very elegant.
Oh I should have mentioned that! I used E-6000 epoxy from the craft store. Lined the rim of the candlestick, placed them in the centerish, and put some heavy books on top. Then I let them sit overnight. Those babies aren't going anywhere :)
SUPER easy and way cheaper than glass stands I was looking to purchase. AND match my color scheme!
thanks everyone!
@mittens111211 - I am in OR so that is a possibility :)
These look so cool!!!! You did a great job & I would have never thought to do this, hmm I think I'm gonna favorite this thread for future reference
thats amazing!!!! ive been looking everywhere for cake stands and cant find any!!! how thrifty , beautiful DIY! thanks for sharing im going to try these!!! :D
They look great! We're going to make a cupcake stand out of similar materials. Glad to hear the E6000 glue works!
Glad everyone likes them. Super easy to make but I should warn you they are addicting. I want to make more :)
If you look close there are two small ones in the background on the far counter. I used two cute teacup saucers. BUT I have no idea where I am using them, oops.
Ooh they're lovely! I have an ideer for the wee ones - for us, anyway! - FI's great-aunt will be 91 on our wedding day, so we want to mark it in some way. A cupcake with a candle in, brought to her during the speeches, would be absolutely adorable on that. And oh I have some really pretty charity store china side plates that could do it! Good woman, you've settled that for me!
@aunt pol - that is such a cute idea for his great-aunt! She will love that. I am sure I will find somewhere to use them, maybe even after dinner mints or something since we are eating spicy bbq.
These are awesome. Have you used them yet? If so, would you be interested in selling them? They would be perfect for my wedding in May, 2012?
I LOVE YOU!!!! I've been struggling with finding centerpieces for a bridal shower I'm working on and the bride was so upset she could have cupcakes for the wedding. BOOM DONE!!!! Cupcakes on something like this. You have saved me agony!
I love that!!! So awesome, thanks a million for the idea.
These are super cute! Think a small wedding cake would hold on these? Or would that be too heavy/not look right?

Hey bees! Let's see pics of your DIY cake stands!
Here are some pics of mine (ours are for pie instead of cake). I found these vintage aqua ceramic chargers at a thrift store and knew they would go perfect with my rustic color scheme. Then scouted some thrift store crystal candlesticks and voila!
