I want to DIY a box for the cards – i would rather NOT carry around the little bag for cards when i talk to everyone. our wedding theme is Til Death Do Us Part, I was thinking a large skull and put the cards in the mouth- FI was thinking a large coffin, with a banner saying “Til death do us part” .. i don’t mind – we are very off-beat, so its us… BUT here’s the complicated part…we have a thief in our midst. She is in the immediate family so we cant NOT invite her, although i would love not to…ha but anyway- what do you think we should build a card box out of that’s large enough that someone cant sneak it out, and heavy enough that its obviously if trying to be carried out…?

@AndysCraftsNmore: You could just get a safe. Walmart and office stores sell them.
Decorate it and you can reuse it after the wedding.

How large is large? I would think a skull would be easy to carry out.

@AndysCraftsNmore: I would do both. Make it large that someone will notice and maybe add some weight so it’s hard to carry. But I think if someone was going to steal something they would just take it out of the box…
Or possibly put someone in charge of watching it. Like if there is a table close to it, have a designated person sit at that table so the box is always in their site.
Another option is to maybe hot glue it to the table cloth and have other things on the table as well. That way if someone tried to take the box they’d be pulling the table cloth too. It’d forsure catch attention of everyone if someone were to take it.
There’s no theifs in my family or anything, but I wouldn’t care if my family /friends were saints… I’m still protecting my card box like it no other lol.

@cupcakebride2013: FI and I were talking- again (i didnt suggest something heavy but he did) “can we make it big, lets make a coffin, with a slot of the cards, like really big out of wood, get some 2×4’s and 1/2” plywood…YES!(happy dance) oh yeah that B**** wont be taking our loot! hahaha… now with that being said how HUGE should a wood coffin be? i was thinking at LEAST 3 ft tall.(what do you think)..and how to decorate it??? i was thinking about maybe putting the card box on the same table with the cupcake tower… i haven’t seen many ideas for a coffin card box, or my sisters-father-in-law is a welder…i wonder if maybe i can have him make me unbreakable box…well hes got all the tools to crack it open — hes made some hard core sturdy stuff… OR…. just found this out- at the reception location we all get lockers(its at a golf course) i would have a locker to put my things in- i can bring a lock and just throw all the cards in there…if i go the card bag way…

Ooh, you could use the cupcakes as additional defenses. Like make a big coffin, cut a card slot in the skinny end and put a bunch of cupcakes on the fat end! And I’d get a really cool big lock!

We got a wooden chest and I knocked a board out of the top and locked it shut so there was no way to get it open. It was pretty big, but if I knew there was a theif at the wedding I’d have drilled a hole in the bottom to run a cable through and attach it to the table.
Edit: if you have a coffin, you can get those little metal hinge things that you can screw in to keep the lid shut…. hopefully she won’t bring a screwdriver set, lol.
