I ordered all of my Swarovski crystals from dreamtimecreations.com. I ordered a bunch of different sizes from 3mm all the way up to 20 mm. It depends on what kind of finish you are looking for. The clear cyrstal will give you a more glasslike finish whereas the AB will have other colors in it, since the AB finish is an Aurora Bourealis finish (kinda rainbowlike).
I used AB and this is what it looks like.
for these, i used regular clear.
Ut-oh...I think the AB finish makes a big difference...does it look alot different in person and which do you prefer???
I ordered mine in AB and they are beautiful! I don't have pics yet as I had to order more once I saw how small they actually were lol I didn\t have enought to do one side let alone a whole shoe!
I haven't done any AB but I love love love the way it's turned out for some Bees. I use Dreamtime Creations for my crystal orders and they've been great! They also sell Preciosa, which are a cheaper, but still high quality, alternative to Swarovski.
I actually did my shoes in a mixture of Crystal and Crystal AB. They came out awesome. I was in the same situation to... and ended up buying crystals in both, mixing them up, and placing them on randomly. I was really happy with how it turned out!! It gives it some good dimension. Here are some pictures of mine.. I'm in the middle of finishing up the 2nd shoe =)
@BellaVita88: Oh wow I love the mix of AB and clear! I have been debating which type to buy but after seeing these I am going to mix them :)
@BellaVita88: WOW I think I am going to mix too. How many crystals did you order to cover your shoes? Where are your crystals from?
@ella86: I have been researching crystals as I cant afford genuine swarovski, I found a seller through a bee that sells them really cheap on ebay the seller is plm37-sweetpeas. One bee has pics of her strassed shoes with these crystals and they look very good quality. However im in the UK so i have found another seller - the crystals are resin opposed to cheap plastic ones so I think I am going to gamble and go for these, they are quite faceted and as they are resin they have a more glass-like polished look to them. Good luck with your DIY, post pics when you have done them :)
I got mine off ebay after CrispyRN recommended them, however they are sold out of the hotfix (they still have the resin kind) I bought so I have to wait for more stock before I can start, Im hoping it will be soon! Good to know though if they dont get more in stock I could get clear from another seller and mix and it would still look good!
this looks so time consuming but totally beautiful...you go girls. I would never have the patience

I'm embarking upon my very first wedding DIY....My shoes!!! I went ahead and ordered a ton of swarovski crystals in the smallest sizes, in crystal clear WITHOUT the AB finish. I went and actually looked at them at target and they just looked sooooo cheap to me...then I was researching and it seems as if everyone has used the AB finish...which do you guys think would turn out better??? Clear or AB finish??? Does anyone have pics of both side by side??? Also, what size crystals should I order? and can anyone reccomend good sites??? I used hotfixqueen as someone on here reccomeded...are there any other sites I can order from and get a good deal??? Thanks in advance!
